#TheCommonwealth once again exemplified leadership by passing a clean energy bill that will deliver comprehensive #climate solutions across the state. The bill will help #Massachusetts achieve its emissions reduction goals, as well as help stimulate economic #opportunities for the state’s energy future.   As a developer and provider of innovative energy solutions, JERA Americas is especially encouraged to see the omnibus #energybill instruct the Department of Energy Resources (DOER) to study Surplus Interconnection Service (SIS), which leverages underutilized interconnection capacity at legacy power plants to bring clean energy into the regional power grid faster and more affordably. We believe that, at our asset in Sandwich, Mass., SIS will save hundreds of millions of dollars for developers and residents down the line, at a time when the costs of offshore wind development continue to rise.   We applaud the inclusion of an SIS study in the bill and look forward to working with the DOER, the Office of Energy Transformation, and the Healey Administration as we develop solutions that deliver affordable, reliable, and #cleanenergy for the state.   #energy #innovation #legislation #business #JAM #JERAAmericas

Global CCS Institute held its annual members meeting and JERA Americas’ Brad Williams was on hand to serve on a panel discussing “Global Drivers for CSS.” Brad updated the group on JERA Co., Inc.'s progress on its commitment to reduce CO2 emissions. 🔸 Importing ammonia to reduce CO2 emissions from plants in Tokyo. 🔸 Planning to capture CO2 from existing natural gas power plants and export it to countries with better geology to sequester it and that welcome CO₂ storage. 🔸Working across the low carbon value chain—from hydrogen production, shipping, terminals all the way to the end users.  #lowcarbonvaluechain #JERA #JERAAmericas #CO2reductions #cleanenergy #CCS

JERA Nex Oxbow Solar Farm in Ventress, #Louisiana, has a new landscaping crew and they’re not at all sheepish about posing for photos. More than 120 sheep have been relocated to the farm and if we must say, they’re wooly cute lawnmowers. The Oxbow sheep join the wider Nex family of sheep who currently work at another solar site in Happy, Arkansas. These beauties are happy, healthy and provide essential #biodiversity to the land.    Did you know: 🐑 Working sheep at solar farms are integral to managing vegetation on the grounds and around the solar panels? 🔥 They help prevent fires because they eat the weeds that grow up around the panels? 🌎They are an environmentally and cost-effective way to manage vegetation? 🐑Sheep improve maintenance oversight because herd managers will often spot and report potential issues more regularly? 🌱Grazing sheep improve the soil, support biodiversity and reduce the carbon footprint of the farm. ☀️Sheep are considered the best-suited species for solar farm grazing?   #sustainability #carbonfootprint #solar #energy #solarfarm #JeraAmericas #innovation #sheep
