"NEW YORK — Isaac Ohrenstein recalled feeling just a little bit starstruck when he sat down to interview Dr. Einat Wilf in her Tel Aviv apartment this past January. He couldn’t quite believe he had landed Wilf, a former Knesset member and renowned author, as the first guest for his podcast “Voices of Impact.” https://lnkd.in/gwwFU4tf The Times of Israel

NPR "You can't escape the mountains in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. They're everywhere you turn. And it can seem like the entire town is obsessed with the slopes. Artist Randy Salky is no exception. But when he's not skiing, he's tinkering. And you can see the evidence at his house. The yard is decorated with his found object sculptures, built with tent poles and broken pottery. His latest creation pulls from his Jewish identity with a bit of local flavor mixed in." https://lnkd.in/g4Vqy8pM

JTA "As I got older, I became more dedicated to Jewish ritual observance. One winter when Christmas and Hanukkah overlapped, as it does this year, my extended family had the opportunity to offer a similar love back to me. When the time came for candle lighting, I got out the Hanukkah menorah we had brought from home intending to light it just with my parents. But when the rest of the family heard what was happening, they all wanted to join. As I kindled the flames and recited the blessings, I got to explain what this ritual was and what it meant to me." https://lnkd.in/e5pYmCp3

Tablet Magazine "So take a guess what Mile End is serving on Christmas Day. That’s right: Chinese food. Titled a “traditional Jewish Christmas,” the prix fixe—served to two seatings on Christmas Eve and four on Christmas Day and made right in the kitchen—will start with wonton eggdrop soup, continue to roast duck with smoked-meat fried rice and Chinese broccoli, and end with fortune cookies and orange wedges. It’s your traditional Chinese meal, made hip, and—with that crucial addition of smoked meat—brushed gently with Mile End’s idiosyncrasy." https://lnkd.in/ghV_UhR5

Jewish News Syndicate "The report by the London-based Henry Jackson Society security think tank breaks down the figure of about 44,000 deaths since Oct. 7, 2023, that the Hamas-controlled health ministry in Gaza has published, and which international media have reported without scrutiny. The scale of civilian deaths in Gaza is a key element in a legal and propaganda attempt by Israel’s enemies to isolate it internationally using false allegations of genocide." https://lnkd.in/gVvQ7MGj
