It was such a pleasure having the Adyen team volunteer at the JFCS Food Bank last week! Adyen employees from all over the country came to learn about JFCS, help sort the remainder of donations from the High Holiday Food Drive, and make grocery deliveries to JFCS clients in need. Thank you so much for your time, compassion, and support, Adyen! We hope to see you again soon.

Livia Grunfeld, a longtime participant in JFCS’ Cafe by the Bay program for Holocaust survivors, recently celebrated her 99th birthday. And while she may be slowing down a bit, with care and support from JFCS' Seniors At Home, Livia continues to live life to the fullest. In the 175 years since its founding, JFCS has always met the needs of people in our community as they arise—guided by Jewish principles that place the worth of human life above all else. This core value led to the 1988 launch of Chicken Soupers, a program founded to provide kosher meals to people suffering from AIDS. Now, decades later, Chicken Soupers continues to bring together volunteers from Congregation Beth Sholom, Congregation Sherith Israel, and JFCS' Young Adult Community Connection to prepare nutritious meals for people in need. #JFCS175 #JewishValues #PikuachNefesh

JFCS is celebrating 175 years of caring for our Bay Area community, so we're exploring the historical events of the past two centuries that have shaped us! The 1906 Earthquake and Fire created thousands of refugees overnight. From the ashes of this devastation, the Eureka Benevolent Society (now JFCS) emerged stronger—transforming from a small, charitable aid organization into an important community lifeline for countless families. Read on to discover how the history of JFCS is rooted in supporting San Francisco's Jewish community in times of calamity or crisis: In the aftermath of the 1906 Earthquake in San Francisco, the Eureka Benevolent Society (now JFCS) played a critical role in assisting residents who had lost their homes and livelihoods. The Society coordinated with the Hebrew Board of Relief to provide food, clothing, medical aid, and temporary shelter to all those affected. Thanks to the generosity of its members and the local community, the organization significantly increased its financial aid to address the needs arising from the earthquake. The 1906 Earthquake marked a turning point, solidifying the Society—and JFCS—as a leader in responding to emergencies in the Bay Area community. #JFCS175 #SanFranciscoHistory #JewishHistory
