  • Are these resume mistakes costing you your dream job? Your resume is your first impression, and it needs to count! But these common mistakes might be holding you back: ❌ Typos & Grammatical Errors Even minor mistakes can make you appear unprofessional. Always double-check and, if possible, get a second pair of eyes on it. ❌ Including Irrelevant Information Your resume isn’t your life story—it’s a highlight reel. Tailor it to the job description and keep it focused. ❌ Keyword Stuffing Yes, ATS optimization matters, but don’t cram your resume with keywords at the expense of readability and flow. ❌ Using Overly Creative Designs Unless you’re applying for a creative role, keep it simple. Skip the fancy fonts and graphics. ❌ Not Quantifying Achievements Numbers speak louder than words. “Increased sales by 30%” is far more impactful than “Improved sales.” ❌ Failing to Tailor for the Role One size does NOT fit all. Make tweaks for every job application to show you're the perfect fit. Want to see how your resume stacks up? • Finding the right job to apply for can be the bulk of your job search. If you're not sure if your resume meets the qualifications for the job you're interested in, here's what you can do to double check: 📌 Plug your resume into our resume scanner tool. If your resume is at a 75%, skip the next steps because you're ready to apply! If not, don't worry just follow the next steps ↴ 1️⃣ Search for the keywords and skills that are mentioned in the job description but missing from your resume, and add them to your resume. Just because you're missing skills doesn't mean you don't have these skills under your belt. By adding in key skills recruiters might search for in their ATS, you can get a leg up on being a potential candidate for the job. 2️⃣ Don't forget to use an ATS friendly resume template. The key here is you want your resume to be searchable within a recruiter's ATS, so if your resume has funky formatting, some information may not be scanned and parsed correctly. Let us know if you have any questions down below and be sure to check out our free tools and resources linked in the comments 💡 #jobsearch #jobseekers #jobhunt #jobsearchtips #resumetips

Is lying on your resume okay? Let's discuss the truth. Crafting a resume that stands out can feel daunting. The temptation to embellish accomplishments or tweak details to fit a job posting is real—but at what cost? Here's what you need to know: 📌 Even a small lie can lead to big consequences. Background checks, reference calls, or a deep-dive interview can easily reveal discrepancies, damaging your credibility and reputation. 📌 Some industries, like finance or healthcare, treat resume misrepresentations as serious offenses, and falsifying official documents could even lead to legal trouble. 📌 It's okay to highlight your skills confidently—but honesty always wins. If you're unsure about an achievement or detail, leave it off. 💡 The Good News: Many job postings list "ideal" qualifications. If you're missing a few, focus on transferable skills and your willingness to learn. Employers often value capability and potential over perfection. 🦾 Pro Tip: Struggling to showcase your skills accurately? Use Jobscan's free resume builder to create a resume that reflects your true strengths and gets past ATS filters. Struggling to figure out which resume format actually works for recruiters? Here’s the inside scoop from our lead recruiter: "Recruiters like me tend to favor chronological resumes. They’re easy to skim, and they give us a quick snapshot of your career progression. But that’s not always enough, especially if you’re making a career change or have a diverse work history." If picking the right format feels like a guessing game, don’t worry—we’ve broken it all down for you.
