It’s Thanksgiving week in New York, and the city is gearing up for the famous Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade! 🎈 🦃 On Sixth Avenue and 33rd Street, just steps from the parade route and televised 34th Street performance area sits Vornado Realty Trust’s 100 W. 33rd Street. From the large east-facing windows, you may just catch a glimpse of the famous floats as they make their turn from 6th Avenue onto 34th Street for their TV closeups. Built in 1910 and designed by Emory Roth & Sons, the mixed-use building features 243,000 square feet of retail space within the Manhattan Mall, while a number of creative services and advertising/media companies have settled into the upper office floors, attracted to the open floorplates, tall ceilings and abundant natural light. JT Magen delivered two separate, unique projects at the property for global media agencies IPG UM and IPG Mediabrands. Each totaling 95,000 square feet, the new spaces highlight the companies’ individual brands and include bold collaboration and amenity spaces that met the company's goals of a more agile workplace.

As construction managers, it’s important that we keep our workflow organized and accessible to allow for the turnaround of a successful project, delivered on time and on budget. Procore Technologies’s software was especially helpful during our work at One Manhattan West, at a time when JT Magen was simultaneously working on three buildouts totaling more than 1.1 million square feet of interior space – for Accenture, NHL and Skadden, Arps – at the 67-story building in Hudson Yards.
JT Magen Austin recently sponsored a team at RBI Austin’s inaugural Golf Classic with Carahsoft. Bud Norris and Jacob Good were joined by Austin Wills from Franklin Street and David Ramming of Rambo Materials, a powerhouse quad that wound up with a winning score of 55 (-17)! Held at one of Austin’s most coveted golf courses, Fazio Foothills Golf Course at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa, the golf classic raised nearly $300,000 to support the more than 1,670 kids involved in RBI Austin. ⛳ An affiliate of Major League Baseball (MLB) Baseball’s Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities program, the Austin-based nonprofit provides baseball and softball leagues, clinics, family benevolence support, and Christian-based mentoring to underserved youth and communities. Its mission is to engage and develop inner-city Austin youth athletically, academically, and spiritually, empowering them to lead the transformation of their communities. ⚾
👩🏫 Fun Fact Friday: In large commercial office fit-outs, a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) can be essential for clients eager to start using their space before every last detail is finalized. For our recent project at 245 Park Avenue with confidential investment firm, the conference center floor—one of five floors we completed—required a TCO due to a major occupancy shift from around 280 people to nearly 480. This change needed rigorous planning to ensure all critical safety systems, such as egress and fire safety, met code for early occupancy. By securing the TCO, the team facilitated a seamless move-in, minimizing operational downtime and allowing the client to hit the ground running.
Giving back is better when it’s done with friends! We had a wonderful “Friendsgiving” with industry partners Corgan and BASK, which gave each of us the opportunity to show appreciation for our working friendship while also raising money for the Downtown Women's Center. The DCW is the only organization in Los Angeles focused exclusively on serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness and formerly homeless women. Its mission is to end homelessness for women in greater Los Angeles through housing, wellness, and advocacy. A special shout out to committee members Melissa Horvat, JT Magen; BASK’s Brian Shugrue and Bennett McCord, Assoc. AIA, IIDA, ASID; and Sean Kim Nickerson and Jason Bogle from Corgan for organizing a warm, meaningful evening.
