We interrupt your business dinner to share an important #GivingTuesday update: your donation to JusticeAccess tonight will be matched by one of our amazing supporters. Please donate now! https://lnkd.in/ejiB7MU7 We know that not everyone is in a position to contribute financially today (though even small donations are meaningful and appreciated!) so if that is you, we hope that you will visit our JusticeTuesday page and contribute ideas and information as requested in the "story" section of the page. And please share with your friends and colleagues who share your passion for access to justice!

We came across this quote in some reading that we did over the long weekend. It seems appropriate for #GivingTuesday: "Every lawyer and layman should help with mind and money, heart and soul, until the objective of justice for all has been attained." Whether you are a lawyer or a layperson, your mind and money can help us with our work to provide access to justice through meaningful access to legal information. We hope you will donate today at https://lnkd.in/eXz3i8Wi. Source: Legal aid in the United States : a study of the availability of lawyers' services for persons unable to pay fees, by Emery A. Brownell. 1951. From the Foreword by Harrison Tweed, p. iv.

Today is my first #GivingTuesday that I can focus entirely on our fundraising efforts for JusticeAccess. This is going to be a challenge for me because I am still learning to be comfortable asking people for money, but I am also glad for the opportunity both to stretch my boundaries and to implement some of the advice that I have learned from fundraising experts (some of which has contradicted my own opinions--like, it turns out that the incessant emails that are so annoying are actually really effective--and some of which make a lot of sense). Today is a one-time push, with a modest fundraising goal of $2500, with a comprehensive strategy to build our bandwidth and pave our path to a strong future beginning tomorrow. Please donate today at https://lnkd.in/eC-yWSfB, and if you're not in a position to give financially, we would love your IDEAS and your INFORMATION, both of which have links on the JusticeTuesday landing page. PS The JusticeTuesday page is not on our domain, but it is legitimate! You can make your donation on our website (justiceaccess.org), but it won't be included in the progress bar on the JusticeTuesday page.

Today's #JusticeHoliday is National Philanthropy Day so it is a good day to donate to JusticeAccess! We'll be making a big fundraising push on #GivingTuesday, so we don't mind if you wait until then to donate...but we hope you don't forget then! Giving Tuesday is December 3 this year.

Today's #JusticeHoliday is National Seat Belt Day! It is ALSO National American Teddy Bear Day, though we don't know why "American" is specified in the name of the holiday. We want everyone to stay safe, so please wear your seat belt and drive carefully!

Did you know? Professor Martha Minow from Harvard Law School wrote in 2022: "As Americans, we spend more money on Halloween costumes for our pets than we do to support legal services for poor people." Now, we believe that pets in Halloween costumes are adorable, so we are not saying to stop spending money on those costumes! But if you want to make up the difference, you can donate to JusticeAccess at https://lnkd.in/eQ-YeaKS
