Did you know? Professor Martha Minow from Harvard Law School wrote in 2022: "As Americans, we spend more money on Halloween costumes for our pets than we do to support legal services for poor people." Now, we believe that pets in Halloween costumes are adorable, so we are not saying to stop spending money on those costumes! But if you want to make up the difference, you can donate to JusticeAccess at https://lnkd.in/eQ-YeaKS

Did you imagine this is our daily view⁉️ In the picture, my son Daniel is with his father, insisting on being carried, seeing the destruction, and describing it with one word 'boom.' Like any other child, Daniel dreams of having a balcony overlooking a green garden full of toys. Don't stand between him and his dream; share the campaign with your network. Did you know that "[f]ood insecurity among US families with older adults increased substantially over 2 decades from 1 in 8 families (12.5%) in 1999 to 2004 to 1 in 4 families (23.1%)" according to a study published this month? We serve more than than 100 seniors, and they tell us that eating a meal at our Community Table and getting some groceries from our Marketplace frees up funds to afford expenses like utility bills, car repairs, and gas. We know you want to help keep seniors from making impossible choices, and your support of Angels & Sparrows does just that. 💡 Donating to Charity? Here’s How to Stay Safe 💡 With the season of giving approaching, it’s important to ensure your donations are going to legitimate causes. At Farmer Law, PLLC we want to help you make safe and informed decisions when it comes to charitable giving. Here are a few quick tips: 1. Research the Charity 🔍 Before donating, take a moment to verify the organization. Sites like Charity Navigator or the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance can help. 2. Be Cautious of Unsolicited Requests 🚩 If you get an unexpected request for donations, whether by phone, email, or social media, be cautious. Scammers often impersonate charities, especially in times of crisis. 3. Use Secure Payment Methods 🛡️ Always use a credit card or secure online platform to donate. Avoid sending cash, as it’s harder to track and recover if needed. For more detailed advice on how to donate wisely, check out the FTC’s guide: How to Donate Safely. [https://lnkd.in/eSb3KV5Z] If you ever have concerns about a potential charity scam or need legal advice on protecting your rights, we’re here to help. *****Every please donate, and then share with your friends and tell your friends to do the same***** Freeing Shayla from her unlawful conviction is a mission of justice and integrity. Shayla was manipulated into signing a plea deal by her Lie-awyer. Her Lie-awyer threatened her with the prospect of life in prison, coercing her into making a decision under immense duress and fear. This miscarriage of justice highlights the critical flaws in our legal system, where vulnerable individuals can be exploited and manipulated. Advocates and legal reformers must rally to Shayla's cause, seeking to overturn her conviction and ensure that she receives a fair trial. Her story serves as a poignant reminder of the need for transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct within the judicial process. We invite donations to aid Shayla and her family in engaging a skilled attorney. Shayla's sole transgression was trusting a deceitful lawyer. Donations via the link provided will directly support the attorney and family, with a goal of $20,000.00. All contributions are gratefully received. Gofundme and similar fundraising platforms have policies in place prohibiting unlawfully convicted individuals from using their services for justice-related fundraising, leading us to create this dedicated link for her. Let's change the narrative on sexual assault, together. These stark statistics underscore the urgent need for change and support: - 1 in 4 women have been raped or sexually assaulted in their adult life. - 1 in 18 men have experienced the same trauma. - In the year ending September 2023, 68,387 rapes were recorded by police, yet only 2.4% resulted in charges. - 1 in 2 rapes against women are committed by a partner or ex-partner. - 6 in 7 rapes against women are perpetrated by someone they know. - 6.5 million women in England and Wales have been raped or sexually assaulted since the age of 16. - 1 in 2 adult survivors of rape have endured this horrific experience more than once. The trauma of sexual assault casts a long shadow, making daily life a struggle for many survivors. Reporting such a deeply personal crime is a daunting decision, and survivors need all the support they can get. Outcry Witness offers a lifeline - a safe, anonymous space for survivors to document their experiences at their own pace. This empowers them with the choice to report to the police whenever they feel ready. We need your help to continue providing this crucial service. Our goal is to raise £10,000 to support all who need us. Join us in supporting survivors and making a difference. It’s time to #ReThinkReEntry
Welcome home, Marques! 💚 “Everything I been through will just be a part of the great story that I will have in the future," says Marques. "I been through the most but it did not break me. This is just fuel for the jet. I will take off eventually.” Marques, a father of three, will receive a Last Prisoner Project reentry grant to alleviate some of the financial burden of returning home. "Right now, anything helps," Marques says of the grant. "It will make me feel less stressed. I will at least have something I can use ... for holidays or maybe a down payment on an apartment or car. It’s just really hard right now in these times." Donate today to help support Last Prisoner Project constituents like Marques: https://lnkd.in/dcJNRWpz

🌟 Volunteers of America-Texas | Continues to be one of the Mint Female Federal Bureau of Prisons programs nationwide. An initiative aimed at revolutionizing the reentry experience for women in federal custody. Here's why it's a game-changer: 1️⃣ Tailored Support: The Mint Program is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of women in federal custody. From trauma-informed care to gender-responsive programming, we're providing tailored support to help women thrive during and after incarceration. 2️⃣ Empowerment Through Education: Education is key to unlocking opportunities. That's why the Mint Program offers a wide range of educational opportunities, from GED classes to vocational training, empowering women to build brighter futures for themselves. 3️⃣ Comprehensive Reentry Services: Our program offers a comprehensive array of reentry services, including job placement assistance, housing support, and substance abuse treatment. By addressing the root causes of incarceration, we're helping women successfully reintegrate into society. 4️⃣ Community Engagement: We believe in the power of community. The Mint Program fosters connections between women in custody and community organizations, creating a support network that extends far beyond prison walls. 5️⃣ Promoting Rehabilitation and Reconciliation: At the heart of the Mint Program is a commitment to rehabilitation and reconciliation. By providing women with the tools and support they need to heal and grow, we're paving the way for brighter futures and stronger communities. 🌱 Women in prison are often the primary or sole caregivers of children prior to incarceration. For offenders who will give birth during their incarceration, there are two programs offered to assist these mothers before, during, and after childbirth; these include Mothers and Infants Together (MINT) and the Residential Parenting Program (RPP). The MINT Program is a community residential program that aims to assist offenders during pregnancy.
Big thanks to Pastors Matt and Melissa Forgey and the The Table Community Church for an incredible Mother’s Day for moms in our Mothers and Infants Nurturing Together (MINT) Program! MINT allows expectant women who are incarcerated the opportunity to prepare for birth and parenthood as they complete their jail sentences. Your donations of diapers, wipes, clothes, food, and devotionals mean so much. To help change the life of a baby in our MINT program, donate here > https://bit.ly/3UVB7bt

Access to Justice must be a Right, Not a Privilege ⚖️ For survivors of gender-based violence, the journey of fighting for their rights is both courageous and challenging. It’s a path filled with obstacles—emotional, social, and financial. At NyaayDarshak, we believe that no one should have to walk this road alone, and no one should be denied justice simply because they cannot afford it. Therefore, we provide essential legal support to survivors, ensuring they have the tools and guidance to stand up against abuse. But we can’t do this alone. Your donation can make a real difference. By contributing, you help us provide free legal aid, counseling, and support services to those who need it most. Every contribution, big or small, empowers a survivor to stand up for their rights. Our survivors are individuals who may not have the means to hire expensive lawyers, but that doesn’t mean they should be denied the legal support they deserve. Justice shouldn’t be a privilege reserved for a few; it should be accessible to all. We believe that until every survivor can fight for their rights, none of us are truly free from the cycle of violence. Join us in ensuring that justice is within everyone's reach. Donate today and be a part of the change. Link: https://lnkd.in/g5AwVeVY #JusticeForAll #SupportSurvivors #EndGenderViolence #DonateNow
