Honored to be part of the panel discussion on “Preserving the Past, Nurturing the Present: Mindfulness and Cultural Wellbeing,” a topic that resonates deeply with my work and personal journey. As someone rooted in the counseling profession, I often emphasize the importance of blending tradition with innovation to promote mental health and wellbeing. Yet, during the discussion, I was reminded of how challenging it can be to articulate these ideas across diverse perspectives. Stepping out of the familiar language of counseling and psychology to engage in a broader cultural dialogue was both humbling and enriching. This experience underscored the vital importance of collaboration—not just within my field, but across sectors and disciplines. Here’s what stood out to me: 1️⃣ The need to approach mental health and cultural preservation as interconnected, rather than separate, aspects of overall wellbeing. 2️⃣ The value of integrating diverse perspectives to address modern challenges while honoring traditions that define our identities. A heartfelt thank you to the organizers of this event for creating such an inspiring platform and to my incredible fellow panelists for sharing thought-provoking insights on cultural resilience and contemporary wellbeing. Francoise Pommaret Kezang Dorji Karma Wangdi Knowledge Remittance (KR) & a big thank you, Dechen Rabgyal for moderating this topic. This experience has reaffirmed my commitment to fostering conversations that bridge cultural heritage and modern mental health practices. I’m inspired to continue learning, advocating, and building dialogues that empower individuals and communities to thrive in every sense of the word. Looking forward to more opportunities to explore how we can preserve the past while nurturing the present in ways that create lasting impact! Special thanks to Namgyel Wangchuk for making a part of this.

🌿✨ Honored to be part of the inaugural Knowledge Remittance Symposium panel discussion, "From Wildlife to Cityscapes: A Holistic Approach to Sustainability." In my field of work, we frequently emphasize the value of transdisciplinary collaboration and holistic research. Yet, as I addressed the critical disconnect between researchers, implementers, decision-makers, and policymakers during this discussion, the irony struck me like a bus. 🚍💥🤯 Communicating effectively outside academic settings requires a different kind of finesse. Stepping out of the comfort of structured (micro) themes and familiar jargon is a whole new ball game, and I found myself challenged to articulate my thoughts clearly. This experience was a powerful reminder of the importance of dialogue, not just within, but across disciplines. Here’s what stood out: 1️⃣ The need for continuous dialogue across disciplines to break silos and foster true collaboration. 2️⃣ How crucial it is to engage with ideas and perspectives beyond my immediate focus on agriculture, food systems, and food science. A big thank you to the organisers of the Knowledge Remittance (KR) Symposium, my incredible fellow panellists: Jigme TENZIN, PhD, Jonathan Rose, and Sonam Dorji and a special mention to our outstanding moderator, Samten Zangmo Your insights on sustainability across rural and urban landscapes were both inspiring and thought-provoking. I look forward to more conversations on connecting and promoting sustainability not only in rural areas but also in city landscapes beyond the food system. This experience has inspired me to keep learning, bridging gaps, and building conversations that drive real impact. 🌍💡
