Since their discovery a century ago, nematodes have become increasingly important in modern agriculture as an effective biological solution for controlling a wide range of pests. For Koppert, academic research plays a key role in expanding the use of this sustainable alternative, helping more growers adopt it. Happy Halloweekend! 🎃 Do you know what's scarier than ghouls and ghosts? - A pest outbreak 😨 The best approach is to proactively scout and catch the pest pressure early, but sometimes these things get away from us. Last year I had 2 indoor caneberry customers that had Eriophyid mite outbreaks. They had already tried chemical intervention with little success, so we applied our best predatory mite for the job - Amblyseius swirskii. https://lnkd.in/gW95JhU6 Not only was swirski mite able to clean up the infestations, but she was so happy that she reproduced like crazy! Now both customers use our swirski preventatively, and have not had an Eriophyid outbreak since. Now if only we could train our mites to clean up other things 🤔...like candy wrappers?
