This #GivingTuesday I’m sharing a few of my favorite nonprofits serving communities with mission critical works across public health, homelessness and policy. It’s through supporting their inspirational work that I feel connected to building a better world for tomorrow. What are your favorite nonprofits? I’d love to know. 📖 ACLU, a nationwide advocate and long time defender of policies protecting everything from voting rights, anti-discrimination, reproductive freedom to basic human rights 🥬 Foodwise, a local nonprofit driving better food access by bringing together communities, farmers and culinary entrepreneurs every week for San Francisco’s absolute best farmers market 💪🏾 Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), a black and woman-led nonprofit working from the ground up in facilitating systemic change across health equity, nutrition, diabetes prevention and more 🏠 Larkin Street Youth Services, an org fighting youth homelessness in SF that not only provides healthcare, housing, employment and education, but also addresses the underlying structures of homelessness through research, policy and advocacy 🤰🏾Birth Detroit , a community-based maternal healthcare provider that’s fighting the black maternal health crisis and opening the first birthing center of its kind in my hometown of metro Detroit.
