Tomorrow is the winter solstice! If you’re planning any outdoor projects, remember these cold-weather tips: 1. Watch for frost depth: Digging can be tricky with frozen ground, so plan carefully. 2. Check for holiday lighting hazards: Keep holiday lights and decorations away from buried utility lines. 3. Locate markers may be harder to see in snow: Double-check the dig area and keep it clear of snow and debris. Good news — contacting 811 is FREE! There’s no charge for marking public utility lines. However, if you have private lines (like a sprinkler or invisible fence), you may need to hire a private locator, which could have a fee. Regardless of the cost, ensuring ALL lines are marked is critical for safe digging. If you have private lines, be sure to enlist the help of a private utility locator in addition to 811 before you begin excavation. #811BeforeYouDig #PrivateLines #UtilitySafety
