Holiday Update from Main Street Ministries As we reflect on the joy of our recent Christmas event, we are filled with gratitude for our community of supporters, volunteers, and friends who make everything we do possible. Main Street Ministries will be closed for the holidays starting Saturday, December 23rd, and will reopen on Monday, January 6th. During this time, we will be enjoying some well-deserved rest and time with our families—and we hope you will too! Overcoming Challenges with MSM Tools: The lessons learned in our Life Empowerment classes have been invaluable: “The things I learned from Main Street Ministries, I really appreciate it. Giving us those tools to approach everyday problems, and learn about setting goals, it’s all helped. When an issue comes up, I sit down, take a breath, don’t give up, and walk through the problem step by step. I use my resources, and I keep on pushing.” Tyson celebrated five years of sobriety on November 18th, and shared his gratitude: “I’m still sober today. I wake up and pray every morning and thank God for my blessings. Bless MSM and the things that you all do.” I’m holding down two jobs now and trying to increase our income and savings. I also got my CDL and a TWIC card recently, for working at the port or ship channel.” We’re all healthy and living life. We’re thinking about buying a house when our apartment lease is up, but we’re still researching. It’s hard to find somewhere you can afford in/around Houston. We’re enjoying life though – I’m doing more stuff than I’ve ever done before.” Your Impact: Stories like this are made possible through your generous support. A Grandmother’s Love Knows No Limits 30 years ago, a remarkable woman in Chicago raised her grandson when his mother was absent. Despite having only one arm, she poured everything into giving him a brighter future—enrolling him in good schools and cheering him on as he secured a great job that lasted 8 years. Life took an unexpected turn when he moved to Houston to be with someone he met online and ended up in prison shortly after. But his grandmother never gave up on him. She made the incredible journey—driving from Chicago to Houston—to help him restart his life after his release. Determined to give him a fresh start, she connected with Operation ID, which helped him obtain the ID he needed to begin his journey to independence and success. Her unyielding love and resilience, paired with the support of community programs like Operation ID, prove that second chances are possible when we come together to help one another.  Main Street Ministries is here to help people create a fresh start.
