As 2024 draws to a close we reflect on our achievements over 2024 made possible by your generosity: In Ghana Over 130 women received treatment for their childbirth injuries at Mercy Fistula Center in Mankessim this 2024. The center is undergoing an upgrade and capacity expansion thanks to a grant from MHF. The first round of surgeries for 2025 is scheduled for March 1st. So, what's the good news for the year so far? 💪 Nearly Three Dozen Surgeries: Life-changing fistula repairs have given hope to dozens of women with our efforts and partners in Africa this year. 💪Expanding Care in Ghana: We're reaching more women and providing comprehensive maternal health services through our partnership with Mercy Women's Catholic Hospital in Mankessim, Ghana. 💪Continued Support in Ethiopia and Uganda: Our ongoing programs continue to support women by offering critical preventative education and care along with midwifery to expectant mothers. 🚀 This Week's Spotlight: Dr. Gabriel Yao-Kumah Ganyaglo, Transforming Women's Health in Ghana 🚀 Meet Dr. Gabriel Yao-Kumah Ganyaglo, Maternal Health Foundation’s Chief Medical Officer, a leading force in the fight against obstetric fistula in Ghana. Dr. Ganyaglo heads Urogynecology at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana and chairs the National Fistula Task Force. In partnership with Dr. Ganyaglo and under his expert guidance, MHF is developing a unique fistula surgery training model, aiming to expand capacity at Mercy Women’s Catholic Hospital, Fistula Unit, and across Ghana. 🌟 Championing Women’s Health 🌟 Recently, Dr. Ganyaglo and a team of doctors performed dozens of fistula surgeries, transforming the lives of many women who have suffered for years, and some for decades. On May 23, 2024, Dr. Ganyaglo emceed an inspiring event in Accra to commemorate International Day to End Obstetric Fistula (#IDEOF). The event also celebrated five resilient women who shared their stories of the life-changing care they received in their fight against fistula.
