IPS, School 87, teacher Julius Johnican, DCS, and the Indiana Department of Education all failed this child. They must all be held accountable. Why does it take a civil lawsuit and media attention for all to be held accountable? The system is broken and in need of a deep cleaning from the top down. Changing the law is great, but the laws must be enforced. Noone has yet to accept responsibility. Instead, everyone involved is pointing the finger. It is the family’s hope that change will be swift, and no other child will be subjected to this abuse.

Guion Creek Elementary School - Another Family Comes Forward Regarding Severe Bullying and Physical Abuse The grandmother of a Guion Creek Elementary School student is speaking out regarding the lack of staff training, inadequate safety measures, and poor supervision and care for student well-being extending beyond just one student or incident. Tammy J. Meyer of Metzger Rosta LLP and Catherine Michael of Connell Michael, LLP represent the special education student who endured repeated assaults and bullying throughout the school year, culminating in a severe incident that occurred in March 2024 where the minor child sustained severe head injuries and a concussion while at school. April 19, 2024 Multiple staffers of Indianapolis Public Schools failed to protect a 7-year-old victim who suffered a systematic and severe pattern of abuse while a student at George Washington Carver Montessori IPS School 87 as the child's elementary school teacher (Johnican) orchestrated a "fight club"-style disciplinary system and encouraged his young students to physically assault each other. This reprehensible behavior allowed the young boy to be beaten in class on multiple occasions. Tammy J.
