Reducing single-use plastic is easier than you think! Here are some of the results we have achieved in more than 700 companies that joined the GIZ “Low Plastic Zone” initiative: ☕-77% reduction in the use of plastic stirrers 💧-67% reduction in waste from bottles and liquids larger than 50ml 🍽-55% reduction in the use of plastic plates 🍴-30% reduction in the use of plastic spoons and forks 👊 The power to create change starts with the small decisions we make every day! 🌍What is the GIZ "Low Plastic Zone" Initiative? 🏝️Discover the 7 projects selected through our Call for projects in the Mediterranean islands. As a reminder, in April 2024, we launched our second call for projects in the Mediterranean islands. Islands are particularly vulnerable to plastic pollution, which threatens their exceptional biodiversity and the living environment of local populations. 🔎 This punctual call aims at financing ongoing activities in the Islands up to 100k. These projects can be of various types: from reduction of the use, to data collection, awareness-raising, waste management, recycling, advocacy and the search for alternatives to plastic. They are part of a unique local context, which the project leader is familiar with. Our selection committee studied all the applications really carefully during the past months and we are happy to support 7 projects in 6 different countries this year. Today, we hosted a workshop that brought together experts and key stakeholders from Kosovo and Albania to address challenges in the building sector. The focus was on identifying barriers to energy efficiency and finding practical solutions to overcome them. During the event, project partners presented findings from a detailed analysis conducted in both countries. These insights highlighted current issues and offered actionable recommendations to improve policies and practices. The workshop also created a platform for collaboration, connecting municipalities, NGOs, businesses, and government institutions to work together towards a shared goal: a more energy-efficient and sustainable future. 🌿💡 RenovAID - Multi-level Structural Support for Improving Energy Efficiency in Buildings in #Kosovo and #Albania is a project supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in the framework of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI), implemented by WiseEuropa in partnership with Balkan Green Foundation (BGF), Institute for Development Policy (INDEP), Milieukontakt Albania and Energiaklub Climate Policy Institute.
