“Show me the cost shift numbers, what they are and the extent of the problem,” O’Grady said. “If we can get to a place where we’re operating in facts and data around this [cost shift] narrative, we will have a much better conversation.” Last week, MnSEIA members showed up at the Capitol to testify on a bill to alter MN’s highly successful net-metering law. It’s our first net metering battle in a nation-wide war against rooftop solar. With less than 1% of MN homes being powered by solar, this proposal is a solution in search of a problem. Packed hearing room at the Minnesota Capitol today for a hearing on HF 845, which would redefine net-metering in co-op and municipal utility territory—negatively impacting local #solar businesses and Minnesota customers. MnSEIA, our members, partners, and homeowners gave powerful testimony for how changing net-metering would, "crush the solar industry, especially in rural Minnesota." One residential installer estimated they would be forced to lay off 25% of their workforce.
