Our hearts have been with Southern California all week, and they're breaking at the devastation wrought by wildfires. We don’t just serve the greater Los Angeles community—we also live and work there, as it’s home to one of our major fulfillment centers. We’ve checked in with all our employees and drivers in the impacted areas and are relieved to report that everyone is safe. Our hardworking teams are continuing to deliver to residents throughout the city, prioritizing safety above all. We're also offering our customers in LA County free shipping on orders placed by 1/14, and supporting the community in the way we know best: with nourishment. Our work to create a more sustainable food system by reducing food waste—which mitigates climate change—wouldn’t be possible without donation partners that help ensure food goes to its highest outcome. We’ll continue to support the incredible food access efforts of longtime partners like Hollywood Food Coalition, Food Forward, Elim Food Pantry, Until We Rise, and La La Farm. We're also helping supply water and prepared meals to residents through Hollywood Food Coalition and distributing energy bars and healthy snacks to firefighters and front line workers in Pasadena as they work tirelessly in the days to come. If you're looking for ways you can help, you can support Los Angeles Regional Food Bank (a network member of Feeding America, a longtime Misfits Market partner) as they work with more than 600 partner agencies to assess needs and provide immediate assistance. And if you or someone you know needs emergency food support, visit LAFoodBank.org/find-food to located resources near you.

  • The cat’s officially out of the bag: we’ve been named as one of Fast Company’s 2024 Brands That Matter! We’re thrilled to be in such great company, and we wouldn't be here without our supplier partners who help us create a differentiated food supply chain and our customers who support our mission with every order. Together, we're able to reduce food waste at scale—an average of 500,000 pounds a week!—and realize our vision of a more sustainable food system. But most of all, none of this would be possible without the people who bring our brand to life. A huge thanks to our world-class team who works tirelessly to create a deliberately different grocery store. Check out the full #FCBrandAwards list 👇

  • We're thrilled to announce our #collaboration with the #sustainable apparel experts at Everybody.World! Together, we've created a thoughtfully designed, limited-edition merch line that reflects our shared commitment to sustainability and #innovation. Featuring dad hats for every mood and a mini tote that’s perfect for gifting (or keeping for yourself), this collection is as stylish as it is practical. Plus, for every item sold, $1 will be donated to ReFED, a nonprofit dedicated to reducing food waste across the food system. A huge thank you to everyone who made this collaboration possible—it’s a perfect pairing of mission-driven design and meaningful impact. Get your hands on these holiday must-haves now before they sell out! 🎁

  • When we sit down to connect with loved ones over tomorrow's meal, we'll have a packed list of things to be #grateful for. Our supplier partners who produce some of the world's greatest food and help us create a more #sustainable food system. Our incredible team members whose #passion and talent fuel our deliberately different grocery store. (Special shout out to our FC, distribution, and delivery team members who worked all this week to ensure our boxes made it to good homes before the holiday!) And of course our customers, whose love of quality food and partnership in our mission make all of this possible. Thank you to each and every one of you for being part of this journey with us. Enjoy the holiday—and if you need tips on what to do with those leftovers, we've got you covered!

  • 🎂 This fall marks Misfits Market’s 6th birthday as well as Imperfect Foods’ 9th—and what a journey it’s been! 🍎 From Misfits’ humble beginnings in 2018 delivering quirky organic produce in Philly to becoming a national grocer that’s rescued nearly a quarter of a *billion* pounds of food to date, we’re unbelievably proud of the impact we’ve made together. 🌎 With more consumers seeking a better way to shop with the planet in mind, our mission is more important than ever: to reduce food waste and make shopping for sustainable, high-quality groceries easier and more affordable. 🤝 We’re thankful for our partners across the food system, from farmers to CPG brands, who help us save food from lesser outcomes, create all-new upcycled products, and ensure delicious, high-quality food finds a good home with our customers. 🎉 This year alone has been a big one. We’re expanding Odds & Ends, our private label, to 100+ products and delivering even more value for our loyal customers with Misfits+, our new membership program. 💕 Though we’re bigger than ever, one thing has stayed the same since day one: we’re united in our love of food and our vision of a more sustainable food system. 🥂 A huge thanks to each member of the Misfits team, past and present, who played a part in getting us here. Cheers to more years of rescuing food!

  • Like everyone witnessing the devastating impact of #HurricaneHelene, we’re incredibly saddened as people in the Southeast face unimaginable loss. Even a week later, there’s widespread lack of food access as roads are impassable, power remains out, and some food banks were wiped out entirely. We’re also hearing that some of our farm partners were affected and are just beginning to assess damage to their crops. It’s all yet another reminder of the impact of climate change on our food system and why it’s so important to address it collectively. While we do our part to minimize emissions by fighting food waste, we know that monetary donations to people on the ground are among the most effective at this time. We’re donating $10,000 to our longtime partners at Feeding America who are deploying truckloads of food and other supplies to food banks in the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. We’re also distributing $15,000 among the following organizations doing the important work of providing food throughout some of the hardest hit areas: BeLoved Asheville: operator of food pantries in Asheville, N.C. now providing essential food support and other services Foothills Food Hub: nonprofit that works with more than 84 farmers in the Western North Carolina region to distribute food to pantries and other trusted partners Equal Plates Project: N.C.-based nonprofit that sources from local farmers, address food insecurity and builds community through the sharing of scratch-made meals Golden Harvest Food Bank: supports 24 counties around Augusta, GA Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee: supports 20 counties around Maryville, TN If you need emergency food support, we encourage you to use the Feeding America food bank locator tool to find resources near you. And of course, if you’re financially able, join us in donating to organizations on the ground so we can lift up these communities together on their long road to recovery.

  • The secret’s out—we launched a membership program! With Misfits+, we’re making it even easier and more affordable to get high-quality, sustainable foods delivered with exclusive weekly deals and reduced shipping fees. We love an ingenious solution to food waste that's a win for the climate *and* communities facing hunger. So when our friends at Sharing Excess started a pioneering food rescue and redistribution program out of New York City’s Hunts Point Produce Market, the largest produce terminal market in the world, we couldn't wait to lend a hand. Misfits Market is thrilled to donate $200,000 to help Sharing Excess (one of our donation partners since 2019!) expand their operations at Hunts Point and distribute 10 million pounds of fresh, nutritious food to half a million New Yorkers in the year ahead. 🍏 Just before #nycclimateweek, we celebrated this next chapter of our partnership by giving away more than 10,000 pounds of food to the residents of Co-Op City in the Bronx. A huge thanks to everyone who came out, including Bronx Borough President Hon. Vanessa L. Gibson, MPA (She, Her, Hers, Ella), NYS State Senator Jamaal Bailey, NYS Assemblymember Michael Benedetto, and NYS Commissioner of Agriculture, Richard Ball, our very own Abhi Ramesh, and the Sharing Excess team led by Evan Ehlers. Watch to learn more, then visit our site to see how you can help improve food access just by shopping for groceries with us. https://lnkd.in/eqvApez2 #foodwaste #foodaccess #ClimateWeekNYC #HungerActionMonth
