We recently had the pleasure of meeting with Enock Rugut from Nakuru Tubers, and we were truly inspired by the incredible work they’re doing to empower smallholder potato farmers in Kenya. Nakuru Tubers is leading the charge in creating a transformative circular ecosystem within the potato value chain. Their commitment to sustainable change is impressive—they’ve trained over 1,200 farmers, provided high-quality seeds, and have an ambitious goal to reach 100,000 farmers by promoting climate-resilient practices. During our visit, we discovered shared perspectives and discussed integrating youth Agripreneurs to enhance service delivery and revolutionize the potato value chain. By training farmers to become digital-savvy and data-driven—through record keeping and adopting climate-smart practices—we aim to foster a lasting transformation and create local jobs to our youths in Agriculture! We’re excited about the opportunity to collaborate and support this vital initiative. During our engaging discussions with Alexander Valeton we identified a critical challenge that many farmers face: the need for improved digital literacy and effective record-keeping.
