About us
National Children’s Alliance (NCA) is the national association and accrediting body for Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs). Formed in 1988, NCA has been providing support, technical assistance, and quality assurance for CACs, while serving as a voice for abused children for more than 25 years. A children’s advocacy center is a child-friendly facility in which law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical and victim advocacy professionals work together to investigate abuse, help children heal from abuse, and hold offenders accountable.

In this September 2024 episode of our podcast, One in Ten, Gaelin explores the significant impact of belonging on children who have faced adversities, and how child abuse professionals can incorporate belonging into their work to foster better outcomes. In case you missed it, we finalized seven historic Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with the military earlier this year, so that Children's Advocacy Centers (CAC) can work with their military counterparts to ensure the safety and well-being of our military-affiliated families. More than half of NCA-accredited CACs have signed on to the MOUs to support military kids and families in their communities to ensure they receive the same level of care as civilian children and families. Check out our new map for an easy way to see which military installations are near CACs participating in the MOUs: https://loom.ly/QO7fn3g Learn more about the MOUs, and how CACs can sign on: https://loom.ly/OpNlxOY

The ability to bounce back from trauma is a good thing, but research is uncovering signs that all may not be well with kids who look like they’re doing just fine.
