The only Corvette ever owned by Zora Arkus-Duntov—the “Godfather of the Corvette”—is undergoing a full body-off restoration by our Vehicle Preservation and Maintenance team. This 1974 Corvette Stingray, originally ordered fully loaded by Zora himself, features a 454 cubic-inch big block, prototype wheels (which wouldn’t make the option list until 1976), and a two-tone blue repaint done during his ownership. He drove it regularly until selling it in 1989, and in 1996, it was donated to the National Corvette Museum in his honor. Now, our team is restoring it to its original glory. The frame has been stripped to bare metal, treated with anti-rust sealant, and reassembled with reconditioned suspension components. The rebuilt engine is ready to be reinstalled, bringing Zora’s Corvette back to life. Stay tuned as we continue to preserve this piece of Corvette history! #Corvette #CorvetteMuseum #Engineering #Automotive #News #Museum #History #Chevrolet #GM

Yesterday, the 2025 Daytona 500 made history. Today, we’re looking back at a Corvette that helped set the pace. This 2004 Corvette Daytona 500 Pace Car, one of just three built, led the field in Millennium Yellow with bold red, white, and blue ribbon graphics. Driven during the pre-race parade laps by Ben Affleck, this C5 represented Chevrolet’s racing dominance, featuring the “An American Revolution” slogan to mark the brand’s 18 drivers in that year’s race. Aside from its custom light bar and bolt-in seatbelts, this pace car was just like its production counterpart—powered by a 350-horsepower V8 and a four-speed automatic transmission, proving once again why Corvette is built for performance, whether on the road or at the track. See this piece of racing history up close at the National Corvette Museum, where we celebrate Corvette’s impact on motorsports and beyond. #Corvette #Daytona500 #Marketing #Racing #Automotive #Innovation

The 1995 Indianapolis 500 marked the third time Corvette led the legendary race as the official pace car. To commemorate the occasion, Chevrolet produced 527 pace car replicas, each featuring the same Dark Purple Metallic and Arctic White color scheme, bold checkered flag graphics, and red accent stripe as the original. Every replica was a convertible powered by a 300-horsepower LT1 engine—blending performance with unmistakable style. At the National Corvette Museum, we proudly preserve one of these rare pace cars, showcasing Corvette’s enduring legacy at the Brickyard. The 1957 Chevrolet Corvette helped cement Corvette’s status as America’s Sports Car through its performance at the NASCAR-sanctioned Daytona Beach Speed Trials. Piloted by Air Force pilot Charles Anderson, this car achieved an impressive average speed of 111.732 mph on the famous Measured Mile, earning membership in the Century Club and a certificate signed by NASCAR founder Bill France. This Corvette isn’t just fast—it’s historically significant. Featuring its original engine, transmission, and a unique RPO 419 auxiliary hardtop, it reflects the precision engineering that has defined the Corvette brand for generations. In 1969, the Corvette L88 was General Motors's ultimate track-focused machine. This ultra-rare model—just 116 produced that year—was engineered for performance, with a 427ci big-block engine delivering over 500 horsepower. Designed by Zora Arkus-Duntov, the L88 sacrificed comforts like a radio, air conditioning, and power steering to prioritize speed and agility. Built for the track but street-legal, the L88 remains a symbol of Corvette’s racing heritage. Explore this rare icon at the National Corvette Museum and experience its legacy firsthand. #CorvetteHistory #Corvette #CorvetteMuseum #Racing #Innovation #GM #Chevrolet #Design #Engineering #Automotive #History
