Navisun is hitting the ground running in 2025. We are excited to build on our 2024 efforts, particularly in the Mid-Atlantic, where we're now both co-developing and self-developing community solar projects, as well as actively evaluating new opportunities. We're not new to the region, and as we look forward to more work there this coming year, we wanted to take a moment to highlight one of our earliest accomplishments in the Mid-Atlantic: In 2019, Navisun, TurningPoint Energy, and CS Energy partnered with Danville Utilities to build a 14 MW DC solar farm in Danville, VA — the largest municipal utility solar project in the state. This community-driven project overcame permitting challenges, supply chain disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic, and even protected a historic site, all while generating 23,551 MWh/year — enough to power 1,500 homes annually. This week, we’re excited to kick off our new monthly series—the Navisun Narratives—where we’ll spotlight the incredible energy industry leaders at the heart of Navisun’s work. First up, at the helm is Navisun CEO Jason Spreyer. Believe it or not, despite having nearly three decades of experience in the energy industry, he never actually intended to work in the energy space. He landed here by accident. Read our Q&A with Jason to learn more about his background, how he defines successful leadership, and his goals for the company in the new year here: https://bit.ly/3BwHjQj

Solar Focus 2024 is in the books! Last week, Navisun's John Stroud and Matt Preskenis joined an engaged community of professionals guiding the region's solar development as part of CHESSA's annual conference in Baltimore. Both John and Matt were given the opportunity to share Navisun's vision to bring more clean, affordable power to the Mid-Atlantic, reflect on the region's solar history, and share the keys to success for strong co-development partnerships alongside other industry experts, including our latest collaborator in Maryland, Keith Akers of Queen City Solar LLC. Thanks to Chesapeake Solar & Storage Association and all who attended for another incredible annual gathering. The future for solar is bright in the Mid-Atlantic, and we're excited to be a part of it.

Navisun is excited to sponsor Chesapeake Solar & Storage Association's (CHESSA) Solar Focus 2024 this week, where we'll be looking back on the region's solar history and exploring how its ongoing growth is helping to make solar accessible to all. SVP of Business Development Matt Preskenis and VP of Business Development John Stroud will be on the ground in Baltimore, meeting with industry players in the region. You can also catch Matt at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday on the Co-Development Partnerships & Structures for Success panel, where he'll talk about the keys to building strong strategic co-development partnerships. Afterward, John will give a few remarks as he introduces the speakers of a special CHESSA 40th Anniversary Retrospective panel during lunch. See you there!

Today, on #VeteransDay, we pause to honor and thank all who have served, including our Director of Project Development, Nathan Knapke. Nathan served as a combat correspondent in the United States Marine Corps from 2011–2014. Stationed in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, Nathan spent time reporting on interoperability training with our international allies in countries throughout the Pacific. To Nathan and everyone who has served, your dedication and discipline inspire us every day.

The business world can’t move forward without more clean, reliable power. That was a big takeaway from this year’s VERGE conference, where Navisun VP of business development John Stroud met with corporate sustainability leaders and fellow clean energy experts. As more data centers and other high-demand facilities come online, supplying additional emission-free energy to the grid is a must — and something that’s becoming a key factor in deciding where these facilities should be built. Independent power producers like Navisun can play a part in helping businesses grow by providing this additional clean, affordable energy. We’re excited to work more closely with the business community so corporates can achieve their growth goals sustainably.
