Milan High School’s CTE program has had a busy few weeks leading up to Thanksgiving Break. Our staff is supporting students to add meaningful industry credentials to their portfolios. Paul Glass’ dual-enrolled Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Jackson students earned NC3 - National Coalition of Certification Centers’ industry credentials through Snap-on Multimeter & part 1 of Festo Fundamentals of Electricity - AC/DC. With multimeter, students were trained in the use of advanced electrical monitoring equipment. The fundamentals of electricity provided students the knowledge and skills required to enable them to work safely and effectively with electricity. Jennifer Dexter Riley’s dual-enrolled Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Jackson students completed their respective portion of the certified production technician 4.0 with the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council. It targets core skills and knowledge needed by the nation’s front-line production workers. Senior Kearston Wisely successfully completed the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) four modules and assessments in safety, quality, manufacturing, and maintenance. She is now a certified production technician. The Milan CTE team completed our November collaborative. We discussed last minute preparation for our 8th grade tour of programs on 11/26/24. We look forward to welcoming the class of 2029 to Milan High School for a 1/2 day. Brandon Leek’s dual-enrolled Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Jackson criminal justice 3 students started their National Basic 9-1-1 certification. The course provides students a basic understanding of an emergency communications system. The Gibson County Fire Department provided Brandon Leek’s Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Jackson students CPR training through the American Heart Association. Christina Griffith has her first student, Martin Wolfe, enrolled in the FAA Part 107 remote pilot certification program. He is enrolled in our Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Jackson dual-enrollment horticulture class as well as agricultural engineering and mechanics. The Milan Middle School eighth graders spent time on campus learning about the 13 programs of study that they can consider when our school counselor and faculty advisors work with each student and their families in the spring semester to develop their Tennessee Department of Education high school and beyond plan. #apathandaplan Shout out to our CTE ambassadors for leading the tours and sharing information about each program of study! Student voice is a BIG part of our work, and students did it ALL today. I know that I am biased but I love our BULLDOGS! Thank you to an amazing staff! NC3 is excited to launch the inaugural instructor professional development, Train-the-Trainer, for the NC3 Festo Level 3 certifications at Patrick & Henry Community College!

While attending a River Valley School District STEAM Academy meeting last week, I took the chance to grab a few pics for their Automation Engineering program tech setup. We’ve been collaborating with River Valley to help their students prepare for potential careers in automated systems through finding the right equipment + providing access to Festo Didactic NC3 - National Coalition of Certification Centers certifications in Intro to Mechatronics, Fundamentals and Applied Robotics, Fundamentals of Electricity (AC/DC) as well as Universal Robots Cobot Certification. A special shoutout to their instructor, Jonathan Taylor, who in his first year of teaching is actively helping their students earn these useful certifications.
