This is a Wrap: Celebrating a Year of Impact and 5 Years of Excellence As we close the curtain on an extraordinary year, it’s impossible not to feel a deep sense of pride and gratitude for the incredible journey we’ve embarked on together. This year, we’ve continued to explore avenues that empower our community, hosting impactful events that spark growth, drive dialogue, and celebrate our achievements. From the inspiring discussions during Black Success to the critical insights shared at Tax: A Tool for Wealth Management, we started the year with a focus on creating pathways to prosperity and financial literacy. February brought the spirit of reflection and pride during Black History Month, as we honored the past while embracing the future. Our dedication to professional development shone through Building Tomorrow: Crafting Your Path to Career Excellence and our Inaugural Conference - Soaring to Success, where we equipped professionals and leaders with the tools to elevate their careers. The year also saw meaningful conversations around securing financial futures with From Protection to Growth: Navigating Your Financial Journey with Insurance and Investment and the often-complex terrain of immigration through Navigating US Immigration: EB-2 & H1B. In September, we proudly launched our Inaugural Mentorship Program, pairing six mentors with six mentees for a six-month journey of growth, guidance, and opportunity. November marked a major milestone with our Inaugural Conference: Soaring to Success, featuring a stellar lineup of speakers, nearly 100 attendees, over $2000 won in a competitive STEM focused case competition by 2 winners and Liberty Mutual Insurance showing up in full force to assist students with resume reviews and equip them with essential skills for building a brighter, more impactful future. Finally, we closed the year in grand style with the NPG 4th Annual Gala, celebrating excellence and unity with over 200 guests and 16 honorees from across the globe. The Gala wasn’t just about celebrating impact but also creating one as the NPG Annual scholarships program awarded $5,500 to 6 outstanding and exceptional students. Download Gala pictures https://lnkd.in/d_7BqFiZ This year holds even greater significance as we commemorate our 5th anniversary—five years of uplifting Nigerians and Africans in the diaspora. None of these would have been possible without the steadfast support of our advisory board members, our executive board members, our partners and sponsors, volunteers and team members. As we step into the new year, we remain committed to our mission of creating meaningful impact through programs, partnerships, and events. Thank you everyone for your unwavering support. Cheers to a prosperous 2025 and to an even brighter future! Femi Obi Olukunle Akinbosede Ade Adesanya Joel Ogunsola Oluwami Dosunmu-Ogunbi, PhD Babatope Ebenezer Olajide Hilina D. After 17 years, I’m incredibly proud to become a U.S. citizen! 🇺🇸 During this journey, I: • Earned 3 degrees (2 in engineering, 1 in finance) • Raised $30M+ for my startup Movn Health that pioneered the telehealth cardiac rehab industry, and secured reimbursement coverage for over 100M Americans • Empowered aspiring entrepreneurs through teaching at University of Southern California and founding the Multicultural Angel Investor Network • Found profound joy and purpose marrying my bestie Crystal Adesanya and becoming a father But the path wasn’t easy. In 2015, I got a letter from immigration that I had 15 days to leave the country due to my H1B visa being denied. I had to leave my startup, go back to school on a student visa and return to my company as an intern while I hustled to get my green card.🤯😂 You can read more about my journey here: https://lnkd.in/g2Q-7CNh I have too many people to thank professionally for helping me get here Harsh Vathsangam, PhD Fred Toney Cheryl Pegus Jessica Oltman Eustice Robert DeBusk Gaurav Sukhatme Eleanor Levin Nancy Houston Miller

I am deeply honoured to receive the Impact Award 2024 from the Nigerian Professional Group Inc., Boston, for my contributions to the Nigerian diaspora community. This recognition has made me reflect on how one small decision can transform lives. During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, I found myself in a remarkable position, earning in a month what some people consider an annual salary as an independent consultant But this journey began long before 2020. Back in 2018, a seemingly insignificant act changed my trajectory. My sister forwarded a link about a free Salesforce Administrator training programme for new immigrants in Canada. Although I wasn’t a new immigrant, I applied—and was accepted. While I had some familiarity with Salesforce in my workplace, I had no idea of its vast ecosystem Determined to make the most of this opportunity, I took five days off work, using paid leave to dedicate myself to the training. Two weeks later, I was certified. Months later, I pursued additional certifications, attending late-night classes from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. EST. During this time, I met a mentor—a Vice President at Salesforce—who recognised my potential and urged me to focus entirely on Salesforce. At the time, I had a stable job earning a considerable salary with bonuses But I trusted his words and took a leap of faith. Six months later, after overcoming challenges and a panel interview, I secured my first Salesforce side gig—a part-time contract with a financial institution. The journey wasn’t easy, but my mentor’s network proved invaluable Then, the unforeseen happened. Two weeks into my new role, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the world. It was a "first in, first out" policy at the bank. What seemed like terrible timing turned out to be a blessing, catalysing the birth of BlackForce Today, BlackForce is more than a community—it’s a movement. Through mentorship, training, and support, we’ve empowered thousands of Black professionals to rewrite their career stories We’ve trained over 5,000 professionals, expanded our programmes beyond Salesforce training, and 1 in 10 secured a six-figure salary of over $100,000 within 3 to 6 months upon graduation. That's 10% of 5,000 professionals! This award celebrates the incredible BlackForce team—Community Managers, Session Leaders, Facilitators, and Operations, Support—whose dedication drives every student’s success. I’m deeply grateful to lead alongside you Special thanks to the Nigerian Professional Group Inc. for this honour and to my family—my mum, sister, and loved ones—who travelled from Toronto and LA to celebrate with me. Your love and support mean the world As we extend into full-fledged Human Capacity Development next year, I am excited about the endless possibilities Together, let’s keep building a future where more lives are transformed, and more stories rewritten Thank you Kartik Morjaria Zeeshan Ali Terri-Anne Day Florence G. Shout out to Adesuwa Igbineweka for an engaging talk with job seekers about finding balance and staying motivated during the holiday season. She reminded us of the importance of rest—giving ourselves permission to recharge—but also emphasized the value of reflection and review in the job search process. Her thought-provoking questions challenged us to think critically about our approach: ✅ How many applications do you review in a week? ✅ Who is your support system? ✅ What resources are available to you? ✅ Do you have a tracking system? By taking the time to reflect, we can ensure our job search is both focused and effective, even during this busy season. Thank you for sharing these insights and encouraging our community to find motivation and maintain momentum while prioritizing self-care. 💡 What are some strategies you use to stay motivated in your job search? Let’s keep the conversation going in the comments! #allstonbrighton #jobseekers #harvardinthecommunity #JobSearchTips #ProfessionalDevelopment #HolidayMotivation #RestAndReflect
