It was so great to be able to sit down with Danica Tormohlen last week at the NYIAEE Annual Meeting and Kings Glove Awards to talk all things NYIAEE, Map Your Show and even got to share a little love for Girls on The Run Capital Region. Congratulations again to Bruno Giaccio of MetroMultimedia on being the 2024 Kings Glove Award Recipient. So very well deserved. I always hate hearing my voice and I am forever reminded that I talk way too fast— I’m working on it, it’s the New Yorker in me! Nonetheless, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to say a few words alongside other amazing industry peers and leaders!

On Thursday, Nov. 7, more than 200 trade show industry leaders gathered at the NYIAEE Awards Luncheon to honor MetroMultimedia CEO Bruno Giaccio as the 2024 recipient of the King’s Glove Award for his outstanding leadership of one of the top U.S. audio-visual production firms and his significant contributions to improving event operations nationwide.  We caught up with Giaccio and five key trade show leaders, including Alan Steel, Mike Fiorentino, Tom Malek, CEM, Abby (Ingraham) Nero, CEM, Kelly Curtin, who are active members of NYIAEE for podcast interviews at the event. Last week, I went to the NYIAEE luncheon and decided to record my experience to share with you. Please see below for my first attempt at a "Day in the Life" video, inspired by the new Community Engagement and Belonging Committee I've been chairing for IAEE HQ this year. * Note: my job there is to "facilitate," not "participate," so you'll find videos from a number of committee members on the official IAEE channels (mine is only here/just for fun instead). I purposefully picked a day without client commitments to make things a little easier on myself... but did have some challenges (that you'll see in the video). A few other challenges (not pictured) include: 1. The stabilizer I bought to help me capture more professional looking videos didn't meet my phone's security requirements, so I had to just hold my phone instead. 2. I miscalculated my timing - the map I pulled up to confirm how long it'd take to get from A to B required a ferry, which would have saved 15-20 minutes each way... but, I couldn't find the ferry schedule/process online, so I chose the longer route (to be safe) and just had to move faster. 3. I thought I packed three portable phone chargers, but ended up with two and one was already dead. Fortunately, my phone didn't die until I got close enough that I could still find my way, but I had to record the second half of my day more selectively than the first. Oops! Congratulations to Bruno Giaccio, CEO of MetroMultimedia, for receiving the 2024 King’s Glove Award! NYIAEE presented the award to Bruno yesterday during a luncheon at the beautiful River Pavilion while he was surrounded by his industry peers, friends and family. The King’s Glove is presented to NYIAEE members who have made a major impact on the exposition industry. The NYIAEE King’s Glove Award is cast in bronze and encased in glass with the names of previous winners – including Javits Center CEO Alan Steel – and is displayed in the North Javits Atrium. 

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our outstanding King's Glove Award and annual chapter sponsors. This event was only possible because of the generous contributions and unwavering support of our partners and we are incredibly grateful to have a community that shares our vision and stands by us as we elevate and redefine the events industry.
