Since 2020 the OFN has been part of the Urban Agriculture Consortium which has been building relationships, sharing ideas and developing collaborations with some of the most interesting and inspiring people and organisations working in the field of urban and peri-urban agroecology (we call this UA+ for short). Professor Tim Lang has produced this report for the National Preparedness Commission. 'Just in Case: 7 Steps to Narrow the UK Civil Food Resilience Gap’. We are pleased to see that the report includes these as part of his 15 key recommendations: - Shifting from a Just-in-Time to a Just-in-Case food distribution model to improve crisis preparedness. - Developing regional and local food resilience initiatives. - Encouraging knowledge exchange between towns, cities, and institutions. .......all of which are a key focus of the OFN https://lnkd.in/eGpywsnZ

We were really happy to be a part of this research by the ESRC Centre for Sociodigital Futures. This is our favourite bit from the article: "The organisations we have spoken to recognise the importance of supporting people to dream about alternative sociodigital futures that shift away from a current focus on competitive, economic growth narratives. They see the potential for opening up ideas around collective, collaborative projects and co-designing new kinds of digital technologies that might support this. Our research spotlights a diverse and thriving network of activists working at the intersection of social activism and digital practices."
