Did you know that the Pennsylvania Environmental Council is the organization behind the Public Lands Ride and Bikeout? Hosting these bike adventures is one of our favorite ways to promote a love for the outdoors and a sense of stewardship. On this is #GivingTuesday, your generosity will not only support events like these but also PEC’s advocacy and other work for a cleaner, healthier Pennsylvania. To donate, visit https://bit.ly/GiveBigPEC. Thank you, and we hope to see you at next year’s rides!

Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership Inc. has been a close partner of PEC's, and some of our staff were even founding members. In that time, they have become a model for watershed community outreach, education, and stewardship. So it was with great pleasure that we awarded their hard work with this year's Uplifting Communities award at the 54th Environmental Partnership Dinner. Earlier this year, longtime Executive Director Julia Slavet retired and passed the reins to Justin DiBerardinis. We wish Julia a happy retirement and know TTF is in great hands with Justin. Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission made a landmark investment in trails this year by securing more than $215 million in federal funding for Circuit Trails projects in southeastern Pennsylvania. Their work sets a precedent that PEC hopes will spread to communities across the country wanting to realize the benefit of safe, family-friendly trails. In recognition of that innovative approach to active transportation, DVRPC received our Trailblazer Award at the 54th Annual Environmental Partnership Dinner. During Native American Heritage Month, we're celebrating partners and projects that uplift Appalachia's tribal communities. 🧡 Since many of those communities border outdoor assets, they're using trail systems to strengthen local economies and create opportunities. 💸 Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC) is using $72K in ARISE funds to develop a plan to better connect multi-use trails throughout Appalachian Pennsylvania and New York, including the Seneca Nation of Indians. https://bit.ly/4fPD7cY 🏞️ Our POWER partner, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, has leveraged Fire Mountain Trails (pictured) to connect a variety of natural and historical assets in Western North Carolina, including waterfalls, rivers, scenic lookouts and more: https://bit.ly/3CzrR67 🚴 Partners in Eastern Kentucky, including Mountain Association and FIVCO Area Development District, are helping The Warrior's Path Project (pictured) restore and connect visitors to this 12,000-year-old trail: https://bit.ly/48UczF6
