Interesting report released this month by intelligence firm Evergreen Analytics on the growing risks of severe #flooding events and their impact on the #supplychain infrastructure. The report which analyzed past events and identified trends found that the U.S. experienced 123 flooding events in 2024, making it the most flood-affected country globally. Elevated ocean temperatures responsible for fueling frequent and disruptive storms are a leading cause of flooding which poses the highest risk to #supplychain operations and #resilience of all events and catastrophes cited in the report. The devastation of flooding outpaces that of geopolitical instability, cyberattacks, and trade restrictions. What’s more is, the volatility of flooding events has increased in nations with advanced warning systems and infrastructure. This unpredictability poses significant challenges for even sophisticated and strategic logistics systems. As this study explains, a #datadriven approach, however, can help organizations plan ahead to mitigate and more effectively manage emergency event consequences of flooding and other #naturaldisasters. https://lnkd.in/eBXCcf7Q

Meet Bob Roberts, Plexos Group #COO and 30-year veteran of the #infrastructure and #disasterrecovery space. Industry and #government entities know Bob for growing business lines, spotting #merger and #acquisition targets, and implementing alternative delivery strategies for disaster recovery and civil infrastructure programs. With a focus on helping communities build long-term resilience through infrastructure projects funded by the Infrastructure Investment Jobs Act (#IIJA), Bob’s core specialties include coastal, ports, utilities, transportation, healthcare, and energy. Earlier in his career with the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (now CPRA), Bob oversaw the $1.2 billion Mississippi River Diversion into Bayou Lafourche. Later, Bob helped form Shaw Group’s Coastal, Ports & Marine group, a $70 million science and engineering group dedicated to supporting #domestic and #international coastal engineering and port infrastructure.   While at Thompson Construction and AECOM, Bob added nearly $1B in infrastructure opportunities through expanded disaster recovery housing and mitigation infrastructure programs, and construction management services.
