Braving Melbourne’s temperamental weather, Powering Australia had the opportunity to catch the Windrose Technology battery electric truck at the Mondo Energy depot in Spotswood charging up for its final run in Australia before heading across the Tasman for a run in New Zealand. L.Arthur https://lnkd.in/guU_c7rG has been supporting operational demonstrations along Australia’s east coast towing multiple trailer combinations to demonstrate the versatility and capability of the Windrose prime mover. The Windrose truck has definitely turned heads in Australia and is laying the foundation in the clean tech space demonstrating that there are solutions available that can support the “heavy” end of Australia’s road-based supply chains. #poweringaustralia #energytransition #batteryelectrictruck

The team at Jobs and Skills Australia are criss-crossing the country on a national roadshow to promote the findings of their latest “Better Together - Jobs and Skills Report 2024”. https://lnkd.in/gBW2uCnG Central themes to the 2024 edition of the report address the importance of equity, access and inclusion across education, training and employment. Australia is currently experiencing skills shortages across multiple industries whilst unemployment is at a relatively low level. In this context, the work of JSA is more important than ever in providing policy makers with data driven analysis to guide decision making. During this morning’s Perth visit Powering Australia’s Shannon O'Rourke joined Dr Ross Kelly and Jodie Wallace on a panel facilitated by Trevor Gauld. The clean energy transition is already upon us. The work of Jobs and Skills Australia is essential to ensure our education and training sectors are equipped to deliver the workforce of the future and that communities across the country can share in the benefits. #poweringaustralia #jobsandskills #energytransition #futureworkforce

Did you know that in Australia, just over half of all energy storage is behind the meter? And that the number of standalone power systems is growing rapidly? Recently, our Powering Australia Queensland team visited XESS Energy, a Queensland-based company that specialises in scalable, modular energy storage solutions. During our visit, we met with Peter Watkinson, Chief Technical Officer, who shared insights into XESS Energy’s approach to standalone power systems and renewable energy technologies. The company’s systems are focused on rapidly deployable, scalable solutions from standalone battery packs to cloud-based infrastructure that make them suitable for home setups to large industrial projects. #poweringaustralia #energytransition #energystorage #aussieinnovators

Today we welcomed visitors from Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI)(工業技術研究院, 工研院) Institute to our Perth Headquarters. Jung-Mu Hsu gave us a fascinating insight into the institution which was founded in 1973 and is home to more than 6000 researchers working in fields ranging from green energy, biomedical technology, information and communications, material and chemical laboratories. We discussed opportunities for collaboration between our two countries including technology sharing, trade and investment opportunities and the potential for Australian businesses to partner with major Taiwanese manufacturers. As we continue to explore international partnerships with ITRI for mutual benefit, we are keen to hear from Australian businesses interested in an introduction. Drop us a line to: info@poweringaustralia.com.au to find out more. #poweringaustralia #batterytechnology #tradeandinvestment #internationalpartnerships

We are super excited to announce the arrival of two new members of Powering Australia’s national team, rounding out an important Federal milestone for our Industry Growth Centre! Miriam Cuellar has been appointed as Node Leader and Casey K. as Project Officer for New South Wales and together they will have specific accountability for transmission and distribution and carbon. Both have engineering backgrounds with diverse experience in international companies and have studied and worked in Australia and overseas in government, industry and academic roles. Oh and between them they just happen to be fluent in Korean, Spanish, German, French and English! They officially start on Monday November 18 and will be based out of the Greenhouse hub in Pitt Street Sydney. They would love to hear from and connect with clean-tech manufacturing businesses in NSW. Scott Groom and Shona Swart from Powering Australia’s SA/NT Node dusted off their finest evening wear to join the massive crowd that had gathered to celebrate the 2024 South Australian Science Excellence and Innovation Awards. South Australia’s Deputy Premier Susan Close, who has vast portfolio responsibilities spanning climate, environment, water, industry, innovation, science, workforce and population addressed the crowd and spoke passionately about the urgent need for both innovation and collaboration across industry, government and academia. Powering Australia has a particular focus on building capability and preparing the workforce of the future, so we were delighted to see STEM Educators at Primary/Secondary and University level take out category awards. We celebrate the nominees and category winners and wish them all the best as they continue their important work. #poweringaustralia #educationandtraining #innovation #workforceofthefuture

Powering Australia's Tim Matheson was delighted to tour Jaunt’s amazing facility in Melbourne’s south-east with Dave Budge. Jaunt up-cycle iconic cars and transform them into electric vehicles, but more than just electric conversions, each Jaunt is re-engineered and re-built to improve safety, handling, comfort, and performance. Some of their completed projects include Land Rovers, classic Minis and Porsche 911. We can’t wait to see some of their ongoing projects in the workshop hit the road. When trains idle, they can waste significant amounts of energy, increase emissions and increase engine wear and tear, compared to normal operation. 🚂 🚂 🚂 MLB Industrial Pty Ltd is working on this issue and offers industrial designs and local manufacture of mobile energy storage products with customised applications for military, mining and industrial uses. Their lithium batteries for diesel-electric locomotives can significantly improve idle-stop performance, sustainability and reduce locomotive down-time. Powering Australia recently caught up with MLB’s Chris Everard who shared insights into their operation and reinforced the important role reliable energy storage plays in enhancing locomotive performance.
