PREUSE—standing for Public Responses to Enable the Circulation of Salvaged building Elements.
About us
PREUSE is an international research project funded by Interreg NWE that aims to help local and regional public authorities improve the management of their material resources and implement solutions within their territory to reclaim and reuse building materials. Despite an existing and growing commitment to adopting circular practices in public construction work, organising the reclamation and reuse of materials remains a challenge for many actors. For 5 years, the project partners will be working, studying and field-testing strategies to create : - A strategy for developing reuse centres for construction materials salvaged from public works sites. - A series of local action plans for the future development of reuse centres. - 3 pilot projects to test innovative formats of reuse centres. - Training programmes in the reclamation and reuse of construction materials for public and private organisations. The ultimate aim is to provide public authorities, construction industry players and local communities with tangible, reproducible solutions to encourage the reuse of construction materials in their areas. PARTNERS Belgium : Rotor - City of Mechelen. France : Bellastock - City of Lorient - Metropole du Grand Paris - La Fabrique des Quartiers. Luxembourg : Luxembourg Institut of Science and Technology - Municipality of Wiltz . Netherlands : City of Utrecht

🚶 📍A flashback to the visit to the #Utrecht reuse center at the Future Green City World Congress ! Last September saw the holding of the Future Green Cities World Congress, during which over 3,000 experts from all over the world gathered in Utrecht over four days to share and gather knowledge on the #circulareconomy. Among the events organized as part of the conference was a tour (Urban Trail) of the Utrecht municipal reuse center, one of #PREUSE's pilot sites. The tour began with an inspiring visit to the Het Hof van Cartesius. This is a circular hub, where a municipal recycling center will be developed in the coming months. 👷 Noortje Voulon, John de Zwart and Mirjam Scholtens from the Gemeente Utrecht gave a tour of the municipal reuse center. 𝘼𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙖𝙬 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙨 𝙙𝙚𝙥𝙤𝙩 🚧 The municipality of Utrecht has been the official owner of a plot of land to develop a municipal #reusecenter. The reuse center is intended to become a circular center for materials released during construction work in #publicspaces and suitable for reuse. For example, #pavers and #playground equipment are temporarily stored and prepared for reuse. If necessary, materials are repaired, cleaned and palletized for later reuse in other public works. The development of the reuse center is an important step towards becoming a fully circular city by 2050! Thanks to all participants! 💡 🗞️ Learn more about the creation of a #reusecenter in #Wiltz! Infogreen Luxembourg dedicates its monthly report to the #circulareconomy in construction and its carbon impact. 💬 “Reuse in Luxembourg is gaining in visibility and attractiveness, but an essential link in the chain is missing: a physical stock to bridge the gap between reconstruction and (re)construction. This is precisely where Wiltz is becoming active.” Patty Koppes, Project Manager, Wiltz. 👇 Discover in article n°16 the challenges of one of the 3 pilot operations of the PREUSE project, dedicated to the implementation of a public center for the reuse of building materials. #Luxembourg #reuse #reusecenter

📍 🏁 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗻 - 𝗡𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆’𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝘂 𝗿𝗲́𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗶. 🔍 One of PREUSE study’s first tasks is to establish the state of the art, by carrying out site visits and understanding the various existing #reusecenters, business models and organizations. That is why one month ago, for the first visit, the teams went to Nancy (FR) to discover the "Maison du réemploi". There, we were able to witness an innovative, solidarity-based project. Operated by the "Réciprocité" association (which works for the professional integration of people far from employment), the "Maison du Réemploi" originated from the Plateau de la Haye urban renewal operation. In premises lent by the metropolis and in collaboration with social landlords, "Réciprocité" teams store, refurbish and sell #reusematerials. A very encouraging and instructive example! 🧱 To know more about this platform, check out its Opalis webpage 👉 https://lnkd.in/gpX6Wuhy To know more about PREUSE project 👉 https://lnkd.in/eV-4m6EZ Stay tuned for the upcoming visits, coming soon 😉

📍🚧 Pilot operation - New step for the #Roubaix reuse center! Following a feasibility study, the Métropole Européenne de Lille (MEL) has confirmed the creation of a center for the reuse of building materials on the site it owns. 🥳 Congratulations to our partner LA FABRIQUE DES QUARTIERS and all the players involved, and we look forward to a promising future!
PREUSE : let’s start ! #PREUSE #reuse #pilotoperation #reusecenter #formation #onthefield #research #economiecirculaire
