Updates

  • As we close out the year, we’re grateful for the partners, customers, and colleagues who made 2024 one for the books. From launching new products to raising the bar for emissions data quality and accuracy, it’s been a remarkable year. A few highlights from 2024: • Expanded partnerships with industry leaders like Colorado State University’s METEC, Colorado School of Mines, and Tachyus. • Launched the Canary Carbon Portal to streamline emissions reporting for our customers. • Achieved a 90% probability of detecting 0.5 kg/hr—outperforming competitors by 7x. • Recognized by Guggenheim Partners as a best-in-class energy tech company. As we look ahead to 2025, we’re ready to keep pushing boundaries and delivering flexible data solutions for energy companies. Wishing everyone a joyful holiday season! 👉 Read the full recap of 2024’s milestones on our blog: https://lnkd.in/giJj5a2p

  • Did you catch our presentation at the Methane Mitigation Summit? We shared Project Canary's take on leveraging technology to navigate new methane regulations. If you missed it, check out the highlights below. Key Takeaways: ➡️ No one-size-fits-all: Effective emissions management requires a tailored approach. ➡️ Regulatory changes can and will happen rapidly: Flexibility is critical. ➡️ Data is power: Integrating diverse data sources (flyovers, satellites, OGI, and continuous monitoring) minimizes risk exposure and drives operational value. Final thought: Approach your emissions strategy like an insurance policy: balance risk exposure with your willingness to invest in comprehensive coverage. Want to dive deeper? • ADED testing is the proving ground for nearly every major continuous monitoring system. But with so many performance claims and metrics out there, how do you cut through the noise? Introducing our latest video series: Decoding ADED Testing – featuring our Lead Data Scientist, David Ball. We’ll be rolling out additional videos in the coming weeks, tackling key questions like: 1️⃣ How does the testing work? 2️⃣ Do technologies “over-optimize” their system for the specific ADED conditions? 3️⃣ Why do companies test with more sensors than they typically deploy in the field? 4️⃣ How is the ADED protocol evolving to better reflect real field conditions? Stay tuned as we break down the complexities of ADED testing, helping you navigate the metrics and claims with clarity and confidence. Check out the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/gtg_aSB6

  • 🚨 New Study Alert🚨  Our latest paper explores Project Canary’s performance in the "ADED 2.0" testing protocol –a more rigorous test that mimics actual field conditions– and addresses a couple of key criticisms of continuous monitoring systems.   Key Highlights:     📈 Realistic Site Conditions: The ADED 2.0 setup introduced complex, asynchronous emissions that better represent real-world scenarios, and our algorithms rose to the challenge with an underestimation error of just 3.86%.    📍 Addressing Sensor Density: Addressing industry-wide concerns around over-deployment, we found that reducing our sensor network from 10 to 3 sensors did not significantly impact the cumulative emissions accuracy, maintaining a near-zero bias.    We’re proud to share these results not only to highlight our performance but to bring greater transparency to how we’re approaching this problem.     Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/gcW7KT3w

  • Our co-founder and CEO William Foiles, CFA recently sat down with Oil & Gas Journal to unpack the role of software in emissions data management. Check out the podcast here: https://lnkd.in/gTXkEWyU 🔍 Key Highlights: 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮: Seamlessly aggregating data from multiple sources—including equipment inventories, flyovers, satellites, and point sensors— helps operators understand their emissions profile, meet reporting requirements, and maximize their current technology investment. 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀: Will highlights how investor expectations and commodity purchasers are increasing demand for precise emissions data. 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗽: Comparing measured vs. estimated emissions empowers operators to go beyond compliance and unlock new insights about their assets. 🎧 We hope you enjoy!  Reach out to info@projectcanary.com to chat with our team

  • Since day one, our mission has been simple: help energy companies harness measurement data to reduce emissions. 🎉 Today, we're excited to introduce our new website, where you can explore how Project Canary helps customers make sense of complex data to reduce emissions, mitigate financial risks, and simplify reporting. The emissions data market has evolved – and so have we. Five years in, we know there’s no single path to understanding emissions at scale. It requires diverse tools – from OGI and continuous monitoring to flyovers and satellites. Our platform seamlessly unites these data streams, transforming them into actionable insights in real time. 🤝 With Project Canary, you have a partner to help you manage emissions risks and meet evolving regulatory and voluntary reporting standards. Every company has unique goals and challenges; we're here to help you meet them today and equip you for what’s next. Happy scrolling 🖥️

  • The ADED protocol is widely recognized as an oversimplification of real-world emissions. Between its constant release rates and absence of background emissions, the testing doesn’t reflect the complexity of the field. That’s why we joined CSU in trialing a more advanced ADED protocol designed to mimic a modern upstream oil and gas facility. Over 4 weeks, we participated in a blind study where “fugitive” emissions were layered on top of noisy baseline emissions. 🎯THE RESULTS: Our Continuous Monitoring System (CMS) was put to the test – and it delivered. The results showed our algorithm estimated methane emissions within 3.86% of actual totals – we estimated that 674kg of methane was emitted vs. the actual emission of 701kg. 🗒️ THE TAKEAWAY: These results prove that with the right models and analytics – CMS can handle complex, real-world emissions profiles. We’re excited to take this further in ADED 2025, where the experiment will run over 3 months.

  • The results are in, and they speak for themselves. METEC’s 2024 ADED campaign demonstrated that Project Canary’s analytics are truly unmatched. ➡️ Our 90% Probability of Detection of 0.5 kg/hr is 7x better than the next closest competitor. These are independent, blind results, not our interpretation of the data. The best part? Our models and analytics can be applied to any comparable sensor – so operators can maximize their investment in measurement technologies by leveraging our analytics with their sensors. We look forward to going deeper into these results in the coming days. See you tomorrow CH4 Connections!
