With workforce development being a critical pillar of the Resilient Manufacturing Ecosystem (RME), it is important to come together as a manufacturing community to discuss the successes and challenges around stabilizing a strong workforce. While the RME has been busy getting business done, it was a breath of fresh air to recently share progress with members of Senator Jon Fetterman's staff on a tour Neighborhood 91. RME partner HAMR Industries LLC is pushing cold spray to the limit, especially as we look to them to demonstrate the capabilities of additive manufacturing to produce hard to source castings. Founder Michael Schmitt noted that one such part we identified for a military application was the largest part ever produced on the WarpSpee3D. The Resilient Manufacturing Ecosystem recently hosted Air Force Day at Neighborhood 91 and as part of the event, we were able to present an unique "challenge coin/bottle opener" designed and 3D printed by The Barnes Global Advisors. The first Designing for AM training kicked off today at Mill 19 in Pittsburgh. Facilitated by The Barnes Global Advisors and hosted by Catalyst Connection, this curriculum outlines AM processes and business economics, and includes an intro to MfAM and DfAM applications.
