The AdventHealth Apopka Infusion Center brings world class care close to home for Apopka residents and the surrounding communities. Our team, including AdventHealth staff, administrators, executives, and designers, leveraged insights from recent infusion center projects and evidence-based design to create a space that enhances patient experiences and recovery rates. The facility is designed to treat various conditions, including cancer, autoimmune disorders, and more. The center features a USP800-compliant compounding pharmacy, 18 semi-private bays, two private infusion rooms, and a clinical laboratory, all equipped with the latest technology to deliver patients the highest level of care. A special highlight is the bell wall, representing a significant moment in a patient’s journey through cancer treatment. It is a moment that is cherished by patients on their last day of treatment when they ring the bell three times. The rope hanging from the bell, handmade by RS&H designers, represents hope, healing, and our team's support. #adventhealth #healthcaredesign #evidencebaseddesign

Revitalizing Care: AdventHealth Altamonte Modernizes Mother-Infant Unit with Smart Design and Seamless Collaboration. To stay competitive within the healthcare market, AdventHealth Altamonte embarked on a multi-phased refresh of their Mother-Infant Unit, aligning modern design and technology with the quality of care patients come to expect from their trusted clinical team. Modernizing the unit without disrupting the ability to provide patient care required the RS&H design team to orchestrate intricate planning, execution, and communication with the AdventHealth leadership and clinical team. Though the labor delivery rooms had been updated, the Mother-Infant Unit hadn’t been renovated in more than 20 years, leaving many rooms small and inefficient. Smart design optimized flow by zoning each area: the front for clinical care, reducing staff steps; the center for the patient; and the back for family, creating a more spacious, functional environment. A sliding barn door to the restroom stays neatly out of the way, assuring a clear path for patients while providing ample space for the Sara Stedy walking device. Although AdventHealth reduced the number of rooms within the unit, the renovated rooms have received favorable feedback from both the clinical staff and the patients. Clear communication was crucial as the design team tackled challenges like complex construction phasing. The unit’s single-entry hallway needed to remain accessible throughout, as did the section of the floor housing operating rooms for Caesarean deliveries. The design team collaborated closely with the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) throughout the project, successfully passing the final inspection on the first attempt. “This project was one of our first big projects at the Altamonte campus and it has had a major domino effect in opening other opportunities," according to Project Manager Jessica Whitlock RID, CHID, IIDA. “I truly believe we were working with a very special team…an amazing leader, clinical team, and leadership team at the hospital. You don’t always get that and I’m thankful.” #HealthcareDesign #PatientCare #MotherInfantUnit #HospitalRenovation #SmartDesign #AdventHealth #HealthcareInnovation #FamilyCenteredCare #ClinicalExcellence #Altamonte #driventocare
