We are proud to welcome Montefiore Health System’s CICERO as a new RTW Foundation grant partner. The CICERO team provides care for about 1,000 HIV+ patients at 10 community-based Bronx locations. Through this grant, CICERO will advance its mission by standardizing health equity data collection, identifying trends, and addressing social determinants of health with targeted interventions to improve health outcomes. We are excited to announce our new partnership with Community Health Action of Staten Island, a new grant recipient committed to improving the health of Staten Islanders. This initiative will train over 150 health providers and staff in health literacy, social determinants of health, and community-centered communication. Their project also includes a health literacy assessment, anti-racist training, and improved language access to address community needs. We’re proud to announce our continued partnership with East Harlem Health Outreach Partnership (ehhop), the largest student-run, physician-supervised clinic in the country, following last year's successful appointment incentives program that reduced appointment no-shows by 20%. This year's grant will support EHHOP's work to reduce barriers to free care through appointment incentives, transportation support, and medical equipment for over 300 patients. Uninsured patients will also have access to vital services like dental and optometry for over 100 patients through partner referrals. Last week, BioQuest students from Hunts Point Alliance for Children (HPAC), Futures Ignite, and Areté Education Inc. gathered at Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JLABS and the New York Genome Center for an exciting end of year winter celebration and lab visit. Students engaged in hands on activities including extracting DNA from strawberries, competing in a precision pipetting challenge, making fake snow, and building innovative gingerbread houses.
