We are proud to share that last week, Sanctuary for Families was recognized by President Joe Biden at The White House during the commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act #VAWA. President Biden acknowledged the national leaders present for their “heroic efforts to empower those suffering in silence.” We are grateful for the leadership of our Chief Program Officer, Simone Monasebian, who was invited to meet with President Biden in the East Room. We also recognize the significant contributions of Sanctuary's Lindsey Song and Lesley Johannsen, who actively participated in the Department of Justice’s landmark conference on gender violence. This commemoration serves as a powerful reminder of the progress made and the urgent work that remains to be done. We thank President Biden for his leadership and recognition of our critical efforts to combat domestic abuse and all forms of #GenderViolence. Dear Sanctuary Community, As we come to terms with the results of this election, we are reminded of the difficult path we walked before. During the first Trump presidency, the rights of women, people of color, LGBTQI+ individuals, asylum seekers, and undocumented immigrants were eroded. His policies placed immense burdens on the very people we serve at Sanctuary for Families, deepening the challenges survivors of gender-based violence and those seeking safety already faced. But through it all, we have stood strong. Sanctuary for Families remained a steadfast advocate during those challenging years, fighting tirelessly against xenophobic, misogynistic, and racist policies. Our commitment to protecting survivors and advocating for justice has never wavered, and it won’t now. This moment underscores how essential our work is. We are a lifeline for survivors, and we will continue to provide hope and support to those facing violence and uncertainty. Your support has been, and will continue to be, critical in ensuring that Sanctuary for Families remains a powerful force for change. If you share our commitment to justice, please consider donating today. Your contribution will help sustain our efforts to stand with survivors and protect their rights: https://lnkd.in/g4Pgyr7Z Together, we will meet the challenges ahead with courage and determination. In solidarity, Judy Kluger CEO, Sanctuary for Families #WeAreSanctuary
