  • Refining Mullion Sizing Based on Load Calculations 🏗️ When it comes to mullion design, precision is key: 🔹️Oversized mullions: Add unnecessary material costs. 🔹️Undersized mullions: Risk structural failure under wind or seismic loads. 🔍 Quick Tip: Always base your mullion profile selection on project-specific structural load calculations, factoring in both vertical and lateral forces. This ensures cost efficiency and safety for your glazing systems. Smart design is about balancing strength and economy! 💡 #MullionDesign #LoadCalculations #StructuralEngineering #GlassContractors #FacadeOptimization #GlazingSystems

Get ready for the world’s longest building. The 4000ft ‘Big Bend’ skyscraper proposed for New York. ✔️ A U-shaped skyscraper nicknamed ‘The Big Bend’ could radically change New York's skyline. The tower has been proposed by design studio Oiio for 57th Street, aka 'Billionaire's Row' in Manhattan. The unique shape of the tower which curves back round to the ground is viewed as a loophole to New York's zoning laws and 'air rights'  requirements for tall buildings. As it loops back to the ground it would be considerably cheaper than if it were 4,000ft in a traditional vertical ascent. Its design features an elevator which can go all the way round the u-shaped bend and "can travel in curves, horizontally and in continuous loops". If it were built it would be the tallest skyscraper in the Western hemisphere at 2,000ft. It is understood development partners and investors are currently being sought.

📚Designed by ARM Architecture in 2015, Geelong Library and Heritage Centre is a striking eight-level structure that combines historic influences with cutting-edge, sustainable design. Located in the heart of Geelong, Victoria, its iconic dome and crystalline glass façades pay homage to great reading rooms while embracing a futuristic, organic form. Sustainable features, such as a solar array, water collection system, and energy-efficient systems, contribute to its 5-star Green Star rating. Inside, the Great Wall of Stories invites interaction with books while the space integrates with Johnstone Park and the heritage-listed Monterey Cypress trees. The library serves as a dynamic cultural hub, offering a café, exhibition space, and quiet study areas, making it a key destination for the community and visitors. 🌱 Would you like to visit this library?📙 #parametricarchitecture #parametricdesign #landmark #librarydesign

  • 🌍 The Burj Khalifa: A Pinnacle of Glass Innovation 🏙️ The Burj Khalifa, the tallest structure on earth, is a testament to what’s possible in glass and metal contracting. Clad in a state-of-the-art reflective glass facade, this tower transformed industry standards with over 26,000 specialized panels spanning more than 120,000 square meters. Each glass panel is treated with a high-performance reflective coating designed to minimize solar heat gain—critical for Dubai’s intense heat. This glass effectively reflects sunlight, reducing interior cooling needs and setting a new benchmark in energy efficiency. Such technology enables the Burj to stay cool without sacrificing aesthetics, giving it that dynamic, color-changing effect throughout the day. The facade panels themselves had to meet extreme durability standards, designed to withstand high temperatures, frequent sandstorms, and seismic pressures. They also meet stringent wind load requirements, using a tuned mass damping technique to counteract wind-induced movement. This approach, particularly at the height and scale of the Burj, was an innovation for the glass and metal industry and has influenced design strategies for supertall structures worldwide. Even the elevators are encased in glass, offering stunning panoramic views as they travel up to the tower’s 124th-floor observation deck, "At the Top," where floor-to-ceiling glass offers breathtaking views of Dubai. Sourced globally from Germany, Japan, and the U.S., each glass panel embodies a high-performance, custom-manufactured standard that brings together strength, energy efficiency, and beauty. Recognized in 2010 as the “Best Tall Building Overall” by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, the Burj Khalifa’s facade exemplifies how glass technology and meticulous engineering can transform a vision into reality. This project set a new standard for glass in high-rise construction, proving that performance and design can work together to push the boundaries of our industry. #GlassAndMetalContractors #FacadeEngineering #BurjKhalifa #GlassInnovation #SustainableConstruction #TallBuildingDesign #ConstructionExcellence
