I often work with individuals and companies that are running around in all directions, busy but not productive, pouring themselves into so many activities and efforts without making forward progress toward the important goals or shared vision. When I point out that they are missing a vital step in their game, everything changes! In my book, "VOLAR - How to Turn Roadblocks Into Runways to Success", I outline 5 steps to achieving even the seemingly impossible goals, despite adversity. These steps have an exact sequence. Miss a step and the others will be shaky at best. I use these steps everyday personally as the CEO of my own company, and as a coach helping others to apply principles that lead them to success. The FIRST STEP - before action, before plans and procedures are written up, is the V in VOLAR - Vision - Clarify the Vision What is the final destination? What is the measurable outcome? Where is it that you are trying to lead your team, your family, your group? Why? If you don't know what that looks like and can't lay it out in detail so others can see, feel, and connect with it, you will not gain full cooperation and buy-in.
