Highlights included an overview of current market dynamics by Małgorzata Lińska-Bator and an exploration of high-potential investment regions led by Szymon Ostrowski. Last week, our colleagues from Moravčević Vojnović and Partners in cooperation with Schoenherr – #AI expert Andrea Radonjanin and Igor Živkovski, LL.M., who specialises in corporate and start-up ventures – participated in the Data Science Conference in Belgrade, a leading international AI & Data event.   Andrea was part of a panel titled "AI Development and Copyright Laws: Public Availability Is Not the Same as Free Use", moderated by patent attorney Ljubomir Kljajic. She shared the stage with esteemed industry experts, AI Consultant Branko Kovac and Head of Content Protection at the United Group B.V. Dusko Martic, Ph.D, CIPP/E, CIPM. The speakers explored the legal complexities of utilising data for AI training, emphasising the potential risks of using publicly available data without appropriate permission.   Igor held a lecture titled "Legal Aspects of Investments in #Startups", in which he explained the key stages of the investment process. He explained how the term sheet establishes the transaction framework, due diligence provides a detailed assessment of the start-up's legal, financial and technological state, negotiations finalise the terms, and the investment agreement consolidates all key elements outlined in the term sheet into a comprehensive set of documents.

A Schoenherr team led by Marcin Czaprowski and including Maciej Korzon advised the founders of 4FIZJO Group, a leading e-commerce retailer specialising in fitness and physiotherapy equipment, on securing a strategic investment from PortfoLion Capital Partners, a CEE venture capital and private equity fund. Schoenherr experts Bernd Rajal and Patrick Barabas recently co-authored a chapter in the magazine Nachhaltigkeitsrecht, published by LexisNexis Österreich, focusing on the electricity market reform. Their contribution examines the integration of energy communities into Austrian energy law through the #Renewable Energy Expansion Act (#EAG) package. Since its adoption, renewable energy communities and citizen energy communities have played an increasingly significant role in decentralized #energy generation and supply. A comprehensive revision of electricity market design aims to further simplify the establishment and management of energy communities.
