We’re out in San Luis, CO telling stories of how tobacco and nicotine use affect Colorado’s rural communities. The Costilla County Public Health Agency Director Paul Wertz has lived in the community for nearly 40 years. He has seen a lot change - from Marlboro Man days to todays new oral nicotine products. His team is leading the charge to protect kids in the rural part of our state.

Alvina shared some great advice on community outreach, saying, "My tip for building a strong network is to meet in person and make yourself valuable by asking others how you can help them succeed." Inspired by her wisdom, I’d love to take this to heart! Let’s catch up in person—I’d love to hear about what you’re working on and explore ways to collaborate!

More insights, this time from Jessica Glenza at The Guardian, on how left has met right in states like Colorado when it comes to skepticism of mainstream #health advice, including #vaccines. Julissa Soto's always insightful takes are appreciated though David Higgins, MD, MPH was missing from local expert insight. From the article: Lindsay Diamond’s 'concerns about the audience for unfounded wellness information have been echoed in articles on national health and wellness influencers, some of whom have surprised followers by announcing their support for Trump and their opposition to other scientifically proven medications, such as GLP-1 weight loss drugs. 'She fears that many left-leaning residents, especially those with good access to healthcare, are vulnerable to the “medical freedom” movement, especially when it is wrapped around a wellness agenda that promises to combat chronic diseases such as obesity and diabetes. 'They start going to a yoga studio, they start going to a CrossFit studio, and all the sudden that new wave of health information starts coming in,” she said."
