Flashback Friday: In 2010, our Mole Constructors team completed the excavation of 6,077 linear feet of tunnel using a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) in Cincinnati, OH for the Eastern and Delta Avenue Sewer Separation - Phase 1 project. The team jacked 84-inch Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) for a sanitary sewer and slip-lined it with 72-inch Hobas pipe. The tunnel excavation was performed with a 103-inch MST Microtunnel Boring Machine, with runs reaching a maximum length of 850 feet. Twelve shafts, ranging in depth from 40 to 60 feet, were supported with steel sheeting and dewatered. Additionally, eleven manholes were constructed, along with one 30-foot diameter chamber. #BuildingGreatThings - #engineering #tunneling #tunnels #wastewater #waterpipeline

Flashback Friday: Completed in 2007 by Oscar Renda Contracting, the Eagle Mountain Water Treatment Plant Expansion Phase III project consisted of the construction of 30 MGD Water Treatment Plant Expansion, consisting of a high service pump station, new flocculation, rapid-mix, sedimentation and filtration basins. Our team also installed approximately 3,500 feet of utility pipe consisting of 4-inch to 72-inch diameter piping. This comprehensive expansion aimed to enhance the plant’s capacity and incorporate advanced water treatment technology for improved efficiency and water quality. #BuildingGreatThings - #engineering #construction #watertreatment #wastewater

From the AB Archives: 21 years ago, AB fabricated and erected an anchored through arch and two side girder spans for the Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge in Nashville, Tennessee. The arch span is 571', thrust block to thrust block, and made from steel box chords. 453 feet of the arch is above the roadway deck, creating 59' skewback spans on each side of the arch. Because falsework was not permitted in the river, AB developed a tieback system to support the uncompleted arch.
