David Dean became a State Farm independent contractor agent to raise awareness about the importance of insurance in his community. "Insurance is not a widely discussed topic within my community. Often, we overlook its value because of a lack of education, misinformation, or distrust. My goal is to engage in meaningful conversations, with as many people as possible, to ensure they understand the importance of being properly protected. "What I value most in this career is the ability to personalize State Farm products to fit the diverse needs of customers. By getting to know individuals, I can offer insight into the personal benefits of specific policies that are customized to their needs." In observance of Black History Month, David shares his heartfelt reflections. "This month is a time to pause and reflect on the countless contributions of those who came before me. It is a time to reflect on all that we have overcome and achieved, encouraging me to look forward with hope and determination.” Learn more about becoming a State Farm independent contractor agent: https://lnkd.in/giWjAvk9 #BlackHistoryMonth

This month, we celebrate the one-year anniversary of State Farm independent contractor agent Tyshawn Good’s office in Malverne, New York! “Family is the reason I decided to become a State Farm agent. Growing up in a single-family household in Jamaica, New York, owning a business wasn’t something I envisioned for myself.” “My passion for insurance and helping others locally came from being an agent team member in the same community I grew up in. My agent’s commitment to excellence, consistent availability and mentor mentality gave me the confidence to open my own office.” Tyshawn’s desire to give back to his community shows through his dedication to State Farm customers. “I consider myself blessed to educate families like my own. Meeting the specific needs of individuals with life insurance or other financial services not only separates us from our competitors but puts us in position to help customers reach their goals and close the wealth gap for our communities. “I’m ecstatic to continue providing a stable life for my family, while also playing a pivotal role in my community.” Learn more about becoming a State Farm independent contractor agent: https://lnkd.in/giWjAvk9

"I take great pride in running a business, and I don't take lightly the opportunity it provides. This sense of responsibility motivates me to create space for others, like myself." Before becoming an independent contractor agent for State Farm, Kim Mays spent 13 years in real estate. One day, a sales leader from another insurance company encouraged her to consider a career in insurance. "Despite my lack of experience, he saw potential in me. Intrigued, I began my research, contacting various insurance companies to learn more – this led me to State Farm. "I was drawn to the structured approach of State Farm. I understood what I needed to accomplish, yet I still had the freedom to do so my way. Although I had no team leadership experience or insurance knowledge, the strength of the State Farm brand and its resources gave me the confidence I needed." Kim expresses her gratitude as a woman African American multi-office State Farm agent. “It's amazing to think a simple conversation led me to where I am today. In the midst of it all, it's easy to overlook our blessings, but I feel so fortunate to be in this incredible position!" "Having been born in Finland and raised by Vietnamese parents, I believe the value of cultural awareness." From a young age, Zara Pham dreamed of becoming a nurse, driven by her passion for helping others. While obtaining her nursing degree, she worked for her sister, an independent contractor agent for State Farm. "My sister encouraged me to get licensed and helped me realize I was still making a difference in the lives of others, just in a different capacity. I remained set on becoming a nurse but soon struggled to find work-life balance. That's when I ventured to the agent opportunity with State Farm." Now, with several years of experience as a State Farm agent, Zara emphasizes the importance of intentional team bonding and celebrating diverse backgrounds. "As a horse in the 2025 Chinese zodiac, I see this Lunar New Year as motivation to lead my team toward success while fostering their personal and professional growth. My team consists of individuals who speak both Vietnamese and Spanish, and we're actively learning each other's languages! "When we learn and win together, we can help more customers in more ways." This month, we celebrate the 15-year anniversary of State Farm independent contractor agent Bruce Culver’s office in Westminster, MD! As a bicycle shop owner and former professional ultra-marathon cyclist, Bruce wasn’t looking for a career change when first introduced to the State Farm agent opportunity. “A State Farm agency field executive, whose son I employed at the time, pitched me the idea. After considering the residual income possibilities and inherent flexibility, I was fortunate enough to sell my business at a time when the bicycle industry was booming.” Bruce carried his business model into his agent office and kept it simple, yet effective. “I hire honest and hard-working people, pay them well, set expectations, and then let them excel. We're a small office that focuses on quality over quantity while providing superior service.” Bruce continues to capitalize on his time away from the office through bicycle and motorcycle tours around the world. “Flexibility as a State Farm agent has allowed me to do many multi-day tours – most recently in Ecuador and Costa Rica. Growing up, I never would have guessed racing motorcycles and bicycles could lead me to a career where I help insure them for others while having the time to travel.” Learn more about becoming a State Farm independent contractor agent: https://lnkd.in/eqGvJ4XG
