This month, we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of State Farm independent contractor agent RaNae Candia's office in Garland, Texas! “A week after joining the State Farm claims team, a tornado hit downtown Salt Lake City. I watched the catastrophe team assemble overnight and was instantly hooked – I knew it was my calling to build a future with State Farm and directly give back to communities in times of need.” RaNae recounts interactions with State Farm agents and peers while working with the catastrophe team during Hurricane Katrina, encouraging her to consider the agent opportunity. “I never thought being an agent was something I was capable of – sales and owning a business never crossed my mind. Now, after having my doors open for a decade, it has truly been an unforgettable journey. “People may forget what you do and say, but never how you make them feel. After earning a finance degree from Virginia Tech, Patrick Blevins was approached by a State Farm agency recruiter asking why he hadn't considered becoming an independent contractor agent like many of his family members. Little did he know, his aspiration to help others would eventually lead him toward this career path. "Growing up, I witnessed the influence State Farm agents have in their communities, yet I was drawn to a career focused on helping others manage their finances. Courtney Morrow attributes her discipline, selfless service, and integrity to her experience in the US Army. She has found that these values seamlessly translate into her career as a State Farm independent contractor agent. "I enlisted in the Army at the age of 19, following in the footsteps of my grandmother and mother. While stationed at Yokota Air Base in Japan, I served as a radio broadcast journalist and produced news stories. During my time in Arlington, VA, I anchored the Army’s flagship newscast where I had the privilege of reporting on the lives of soldiers around the world." After completing her Army enlistment, Courtney received encouragement to accept a team member role for a local State Farm agent. She dedicated five years to this role before venturing out to open her own agent office in 2014. As an eager college student looking for a way to pay rent, Al’s exploration led him to an internship with a State Farm agent. After developing a passion for building new relationships, he quickly realized that this career was for him. "Early in my career, I recognized a glaring disconnect between those within the insurance industry and the community I wanted to help protect.
