  • This year is off to a bright start 🤩 Sustainable Food Center (SFC) is honored to be one of 71 nonprofits awarded a $9,000 grant from Whole Cities! We believe in #HealthyFoodForAll and are thrilled to join forces with Whole Cities, a project of Whole Foods Market Foundation! We were selected in recognition of our community-led approach to nutrition education through our free, bilingual program The Happy Kitchen / La Cocina Alegre ® (THK / LCA). THK /LCA® centers the experiences and preferences of community members through peer-taught classes and adaptable recipes. When it comes to issues like food access and nutrition, no one understands the problem – or solutions – better than the communities affected. Together, we’re working to nourish people and the planet. Thank you Whole Cities and Whole Foods Market Foundation for supporting community-led solutions to food access and health! 🔦 Spotlighting Partnerships That Make a Difference We’re continuing to highlight some of the remarkable partnerships that drive our mission forward. This week, we’re celebrating one of our longest-standing collaborations with a true “first responder” in transforming food systems across Texas. ✨ Sustainable Food Center (SFC) Founded in 1975, SFC has spent nearly 50 years working to create a Texas food system that nourishes health, supports local farmers, and sustains our environment. Through their innovative programs, SFC has cultivated a vision of a just and regenerative food system where people and the planet thrive. Our partnership with SFC spans over 23 years. During that time, SFC has been a proud Mission Capital member, participating in more than 175 engagements with us through workshops, consulting, events, and other meaningful connections. “When I joined SFC during the pandemic, I was impressed to learn about Mission Capital’s commitment to strengthening Central Texas nonprofits. Knowing we had access to such a respected and well-connected resource was a tremendous reassurance during an incredibly challenging time.” - Mark Bethell, CEO We are so honored to continue supporting Mark and the SFC team, and can’t wait to see how they further their mission in the years ahead. Here’s to a thriving partnership and an even stronger Texas food system!
