Reference Site Conditions for Floating Wind Arrays, a key output of IEA Wind Task 49 Work Package 1, is now published! This report presents a global analysis of site conditions for floating wind projects and a collection of reference site condition datasets. These publicly available datasets will support fast development and comparable design of floating wind arrays for various site conditions. You can access the report at https://lnkd.in/gwzvwQ_R Now we are working on the next steps, leveraging these reference conditions in Work Package 2 to design floating wind reference arrays for three sites. Stay tuned for more updates! #floatingwind #offshorewind #ieawind #referencesite #siteconditions #windfarm #metocean

We have published the IEA Wind Task 49 Reference Floating Wind Array Design Basis! A large effort by collaborators from nearly 20 institutions, this design basis brings together our best assumptions and guiding principles for developing research-oriented floating wind farm designs. It is our playbook for the reference array designs being developed in Task 49. We hope it will also be a valuable resource for other floating wind farm design efforts! 🌬 IEA Wind Task 49 held an in-person meeting! 🌊 IEA Wind Task 49 held an annual in-person meeting on May 28th at the Palazzo dei Congressi before the #TORQUE2024 conference in Florence, Italy. We also joined IEA Wind TCP Task 55 REFWIND for discussions on reference floating plant designs and a floating plant ontology enhancing the collective impact from the work of IEA Wind. During the meeting, Task 49 WP3 team presented the results of the comprehensive failure risk assessment framework for floating wind turbines and discussed the next steps for wind farm level risk assessment. A special thanks to the presenters and contributors Ericka Lozon, Charbel Nasr, Emmanuel Persent, Busra Yildirim, Mitra Kamidelivand, Athanasios Kolios, Matt Hall and to all the experts who participated in our discussion! ⭐ #WindEnergy #RenewableEnergy #IEA #WindEnergy #TORQUE2024 #Task49
