About us
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations). TEDxLogan Circle is an all-volunteer-led team from five generations of long-time locals and new residents who love DC and want to be a bridge to the DC community. We are passionate doers wanting to amplify DC and give back to the community and the city we love. We love to build, try new things, meet new friends, and we can’t wait to welcome you to this community.

🌍 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆. Think about it: Every narrative we observe or create - whether a film, a headline, or a casual conversation - shapes how we see the world, each other, and what we believe is possible. Yet, as we're all painfully aware: too many stories over-index on our darkest aspects - our fear and division. But what if we took our control back and told richer, more honest stories about who we are - stories that make space for both the messy, dark stuff AND our amazing capacity for light? As a storyteller I’ve always been fascinated with how *mainstream digital, tv and film* are one of our most powerful and underutilized tools for inspiring more sustainable cultural change. So this summer, when I was asked to give a TEDx Talk in Washington, DC on ReThinking Innovation with the incredible humans at TEDxLogan Circle ⭕️ , I knew I needed to dive deeper into this and remind people that as audiences and storytellers, we DO have agency. We can either continue to feed the status quo or start telling/selecting more balanced, honest narratives - ones that makes space for both our very real capacity for darkness and our equally real capacity for light. 🎥 Watch my TEDx Talk here: https://lnkd.in/g6RmDHef This work fuels me every day at Common Ground Studios and I hope it inspires you too. Because storytelling isn’t just a reflection of reality - it’s one of the most powerful tools we have to change it. 🌱 #TEDTalk #StorytellingForChange #ShapingTheFuture #Innovation #ReframingNarrative #NewPossibilities

🍻 We had an amazing time visiting Right Proper Brewing Company's Brookland Production House with our team in Washington DC. Did you know they were named "Best Brewpub" by the Washington City Paper for an incredible eight years in a row? 🤯 They're also committed to sustainability, using locally sourced ingredients and minimizing their environmental impact. 🌱 Hearing the founder's story firsthand on how they overcame different challenges to build the beers they have today was incredibly inspiring. We're so honored to have them as a partner for TEDxLogan Circle and look forward to continue collaborating with them in 2025. Their dedication to quality, community, and innovation aligns perfectly with the spirit of TEDx. Stay tuned for more exciting updates about our collaboration! #TEDxLoganCircle #RightProperBrewery #DCBeer #SupportLocal #Sustainability #CommunityFirst

Exciting News! My TEDxLogan Circle talk, Why You Want AI to Watch Your Surgery, is now live on YouTube! https://lnkd.in/d4Sq-SZ8 Currently, thousands of terabytes of surgical video data are generated each year, but most of it remains unanalyzed. This data contains invaluable insights into rare and complex procedures, yet without AI, these learnings often stay locked away. AI enables us to harness this data to support surgeons, train future specialists, and even predict patient outcomes. Imagine AI tracking each surgical move with the detailed analysis we see in sports —yes, like the incredible athletes from my favorite soccer team, the Washington Spirit! ⚽ By creating a “playbook” for surgical excellence, AI is opening new doors to improve the art and science of surgery. In this talk, I introduce the powerful, untapped potential of AI in the operating room and its ability to revolutionize surgical precision, training, and patient outcomes. I explore how we’re working alongside medical professionals to unlock these resources, with the goal to make surgeries safer, more precise, and more consistent across the world Preparing for this TEDx experience was a humbling yet empowering process, and I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to reach a broader audience with this message. A huge thank you to the amazing organizers (Monica H. Kang et al.), mentors, other speakers, and everyone who helped make this possible (especially Heather Masson-Forsythe, Ph.D. for her patience while I rehearsed over and over)! Thank you to Damien Saunder for letting me use your great visualization of the Federer versus Murray tennis match analytics! 🎾 #TEDx #AI #SurgeryInnovation #Healthcare #AIforGood #ComputerVision #MedicalAI #Innovation #WomenInTech

🎥📸 Shoutout to our incredible production team for capturing the magical moments at TEDxLogan Circle but also for editing the audio and videos to produce our 12 TEDx Talks for the past few months! While the final talks are less than 15 mins, our audio and video team goes through hours and days of editing over multiple video angles and audio clips. We wanted to produce a high quality talk and we wouldn't be able to do this without them. We're so lucky we could work with them. Thank you team for your generosity, dedication, and love to the production. Please give them some love and cheers back! 🎥📸🩷👏🏻👏🏻 Audio Engineering ▶ Sam Austin Lehmert ▶ Ravi Lad Videography - Film and editing of 12 talks ▶ Daniel Osterstock ▶ Moe Thajib / M2 Creatives Photography Videography - Interview collection ▶ Make a Scene Media Tech day support ▶ Ronen Wenderfer ▶ Niranjana Ganesh Photographer ▶ Tammy McConaty ▶ Daniel Osterstock Shoutout to Dc-Camera LLC for also lending us high quality videos that we could use to capture these moments.
