Next Friday is Matariki Day in New Zealand. In Māori culture, Matariki is the Pleiades star cluster and a celebration of its first rising in late June or early July. The rising marks the beginning of the new year in the Māori lunar calendar. What does this mean for power consumption? The holiday is on a Friday, making it a three-day weekend. As workplaces ramp down for the long weekend, Thursday’s evening demand will be lower as it would for a Friday. Sunday’s evening peak demand is also much higher as Kiwis prepare for the work week. TESLA Forecasts not only account for the Matariki Day holiday but also the surrounding days, including the Thursday before and the Monday after. Are holidays important to your load forecast? Get in touch to learn more or visit https://lnkd.in/grdc6i-n. #MatarikiDay #DemandForecasting #EnergyForecasting

Unlocking Energy Trading Strategies: Historic Weather Years to Predict Future Power & Gas Demand in European Markets Day / Time Wednesday 17th July 2024 at 2 pm BST (London) / 3 pm CEST / 4 pm EEST Description Changing demand patterns due to price pressures, growing penetration of renewables, and climate change significantly increase the uncertainty of long-term projections. At Yes Energy - TESLA, we have multiple tools to produce long-term scenarios and assess what energy demand might look like in the future. TESLA Forecasting Solutions | Yes Energy generates longer-term forecasts using seasonal weather and temperature scenarios, extrapolating the observed market trends. But what would the European energy demand be if the “Beast from the East” from 2018 visits again next year? We answer such questions by ‘baking in’ current market trends, then project power and gas demand utilising the observed weather history of the past 40 years. Join our webinar in which we discuss these and other factors related to power and gas demand forecasting and quantifying uncertainty.
