CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR BOOTCAMP #18 GRADUATES ON EARNING THEIR DATA LITERACY PROGRAM LEAD CERTIFICATION! My favorite days at the Lodge are those when I am able to officially certify our latest group of Campers on their Data Literacy Program Lead Certification! Please join me in congratulating this stellar group of pioneers: - Michelle Andersen, from Paychex - Jill Martin, from Paychex - Stephanie G., from the State of Maryland - Mark Yujuico (yu-WE-co), from The Friedkin Group Over 10 weeks of cumulative development within our Cohort Bootcamp, each Camper completes the following to earn certification: - their Data Literacy Program Case for Change - their Data Literacy Program Blueprint and Plan, and - successful facilitation of their two hour pilot Exploring Data Literacy Workshop with stakeholders in their organization (without any member of The Data Lodge there... the real test of a train-the-trainer model!) This cohort was exceptional- taking this work seriously, personally and making it matter for the leaders, managers and front-line associates of their incredible organizations. While this is just the beginning of this culture and workforce development journey for each of them, their colleagues and those they will reach with this work, there is no question that they care deeply about intentionally fostering lasting change with attention to the mindsets, language and skills that serve as the basis of data and AI literacy at scale. A BIG THANK YOU to each of you, your Sponsors, and your "huddle group" team members (who shadowed the experience each week with you) for your willingness to pioneer this work, to go first with grit and creativity, and to trust Veronica Vilski, Maggie Callaghan and I with your journey. We are thrilled to continue to support you, along with your TDL Community Members (now over 95+ members!), as you rollout and scale your program. Cheers to each of you- I couldn't be more proud to have watched your incredible journey bringing this work to your organizations! Onward! JOIN ME FOR OUR 5TH CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY AT THE DATA LODGE- MONDAY SEPTEMBER 9TH! Five years ago, when I launched The Data Lodge as a first-time entrepreneur, I had no idea all that would follow. But one thing I knew was that we were onto something important, and we needed to help to foster the most important literacy of our time- intentionally, at scale, and together. And my clients, team and advocates did not disappoint. This year's ILD 2024 event, (where we keep putting data (and AI) literacy on the Literacy Map as part of this day celebrated annually by UNESCO), is going to be so very special- in that we have an unmatched set of panelists and topics, combined with a tribute to my Literacy Hero, Ruth Colvin. If you've heard me talk of my work and passion in this field, you have no doubt heard me speak of Ruth, one of the original pioneers of the Literacy movement, who founded the Literacy Volunteers of America (now ProLiteracy Worldwide). Ruth passed away last month at the young age of... 107. I was so honored to have met my hero a few years back, and I am even more inspired now to carry on her spirit with the data literacy movement! Please join us for this important milestone event- where we aim to inform, connect and inspire! Registration is free, and replays will be shared with anyone who registers. Please share this post, and welcome those in your networks who could use a dose of hope and practical advice of how we can all be part of fostering data and AI literacy together! CEO & Founder of THE DATA LODGE (Your home for Data Literacy) and Chief Strategy Officer at DATA SOCIETY GROUP [Former Gartner VP Advisor to CDOs]
THIS THURSDAY- I'll share a very personal story. Many years ago, I had a rare health diagnosis and candidly, it was scary. It was a time when doing a quick search on the internet was not the norm, nor were support communities, and this was life-changing. It's rare that I talk about this, but when I recently met Jade Corley during my #dataliteracy travels, and heard her share her story with such vulnerability, I was inspired to share too. Join us Thursday for our monthly webinar at THE DATA LODGE [a DSG company]. It's a personal one- where Jade and I will both share our stories, and how the access to data, insights and the use of data visualization made all the difference. At the Lodge, we always say that the way to crack the data culture code is to make it personal. So, we will. #speakingdata #makingitpersonal #informationasasecondlanguage Data Society Group Register here to join live or catch the replay:
