“The reason people get into philanthropy in the first place is because they want to do good in the world, and they want to give back. Even in really tough times of uncertainty, they tend to double down.” – Maggi Alexander, TPI Senior Partner Devex interviewed Maggi Alexander, Senior Partner and Director of TPI’s Center for Global Philanthropy, for insights on what may be changing in the field of #philanthropy as a result of the 2024 election outcome and the four years that lie ahead. Maggi is quoted alongside others in the field, including staff from Center for Effective Philanthropy, Urban Institute, and Council on Foundations. https://lnkd.in/dkDRBHkG

With many crises displacing millions around the world, there is an urgent and unique opportunity today for funders to support new and better legal #migration pathways so #refugees can rebuild their lives in safety. That's why this year, TPI's Center for Global Philanthropy, RefugePoint, and Network of Engaged International Donors co-hosted a three-part #funder learning series: Philanthropy's Role in Supporting Refugees. This learning series sought to provide spaces for #donors to listen, learn, connect, and take action. For those who missed the series and are interested in learning more, we invite you to watch all three of the sessions using the links below ⬇️ 🔸 Watch Session 1, "Supporting Refugees Globally & At Home": https://lnkd.in/eTNj-xQp 🔸Watch Session 2, "Understanding Forced Migration, Receiving Immigrants, and Asylum Seekers in the Global and U.S. Border Context": https://lnkd.in/eYWUVe6w 🔸Watch Session 3, "From Crisis to Opportunity: Shaping Pathways Beyond Humanitarian Aid" (with Devex on the sidelines at UNGA 79 in New York City): https://lnkd.in/eQy_eYnf Thank you to the series' guest speakers and fellow organizers: Maggi Alexander, Senior Partner & Director of TPI's Center for Global Philanthropy Sasha Chanoff, Founder & CEO at RefugePoint Negar Tayyar, Executive Director at Global Whole Being Fund (GWBF) Gladis Molina at Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights Amy Pope, Director at IOM - UN Migration Nasra Ismail, Executive Director at Alight

We’re grateful for the engaging conversations and the chance to share insights on how family foundations can build stronger, more diverse boards to increase impact. TPI is here to support funders looking to take this step and strengthen their governance practices. #Philanthropy #FamilyFoundations #IndependentDirectors #Governance #2024ExponentConference #StrategicPhilanthropy #Funders #Donors #ImpactInvesting

At TPI, it is essential that we know the latest on these important questions when working with our clients. That's why we're thankful for a new resource from our partners at National Center for Family Philanthropy (NCFP), Trends 2025, which aims to help answer these questions and equip #donors with the data they can apply to their decision-making. Of the many sectors of giving TPI works with clients on, earth and #environmental philanthropy is one area that's become increasingly popular. Climate #funders can play a crucial role in supporting younger and future generations by making #investments in youth-led climate justice initiatives. A recent Nonprofit Quarterly article presents how funders should consider focusing on building the capacity of younger climate organizations and ensuring they have the resources and training necessary to drive systemic change. By fostering #intergenerational partnerships in #philanthropy, the field can better empower young people to advocate for sustainable solutions that will benefit the planet and the future generations to come. Check out the NPQ article below to learn more about this emerging #intergen idea in #climate funding. ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/gRS3qczw
