For the Fall 2024 semester, Professor Joseph Zuccaro's “Management and Leadership Principles” classes explored the theme of “Big Brands in Baltimore and Maryland.” Each student team was assigned an organization to research, focusing on its management practices and organizational culture. To gain real-world insights, students interviewed managers from their respective companies, fostering a deeper understanding of leadership and workplace dynamics. The semester culminated in engaging presentations where teams shared their findings with classmates, showcasing the unique strategies and stories behind some of Maryland’s most notable brands. Organizations represented in this project included: Baltimore Orioles Coastal Sunbelt Produce Constellation Energy Corp @Domino Sugars (ASR) Goetze's Candy Company Lockheed Martin M&T Bank Marriott International McCormick & Company Morgan Stanley Pandora Perdue AgriBusiness Royal Farms Sinclair Inc. Smyth Jewelers Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. The Baltimore Sun Under Armour U.S. Army Garrison - Aberdeen Proving Ground A big thank you to the managers and organizations who participated in this meaningful learning experience, and congratulations to all the students on their hard work and thoughtful presentations! #TUProud #TowsonUniversity #tucbe #towsoncbe #tumngt #Teamwork #CommunityImpact #StudentSuccess #collegeofbusinessandeconomics #management #departmentofmanagement #ClassroomSpotlight #Leadership #ExperientialLearning #BigBrands

On December 4th, Professor Mariana Lebron, Ph.D. welcomed Edna Primrose, Founder & President of Differenza to her MNGT 465 -Leading, Learning & Change course to share her insight as a Visionary Change Leader. With over 20 years of executive leadership experience in organizational management, workforce development, and community development, she inspired the students with practical wisdom about servant leadership in the public sector. Edna’s career includes leadership roles at the U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Labor, overseeing multibillion dollar programs in youth education, rural development, and public-private partnerships. She has been instrumental in leading change by creating strategic partnerships and community-based partnerships, such as the Cultural Transformation Initiative at USDA, focusing on enhancing organizational culture, employee productivity, and customer service across rural America. Edna is passionate about cultivating and role-modeling servant leadership. A highlight of her presentation was an original case study she designed for the students to problem-solve based on leadership challenges she has experience throughout her career Description of the Photo In the photo, Edna Primrose holds the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic torch alongside students: Zachary Glast, De'Aja Green, Kelly Corsiatto, and Dominic Best. This torch was originally carried by Professor Mariana Lebron during the opening ceremonies for the 2002 Olympics. In 2016, Professor Lebron began the #SassyDreamingTour— a journey of inspiration to share the Olympic torch with those daring to dream in hopes of igniting their inner strength. Thank you, Ms. Primrose, for providing such a valuable and thought-provoking experience for our students! And thank you, Professor Lebron, for sharing the torch, representing the power we receive from embracing our true selves. #TUProud #TowsonUniversity #tucbe #towsoncbe #tumngt #Leadership #Teamwork #CommunityImpact #StudentSuccess #collegeofbusinessandeconomics #management #departmentofmanagement #ClassroomSpotlight #Leadership #ServantLeadership #TowsonUniversity #PublicSector #CommunityImpact

On November 13, 2024, the 4th DisruptHR Baltimore event brought energy, innovation, and fresh ideas to the Living Classroom space in Baltimore's Harbor East—and we were thrilled to be part of it! A Special Shout-Out to Carly Davidson We’re incredibly proud of Carly Davidson, a Towson University College of Business & Economics student in our HR concentration, who took the stage as one of the 9 featured speakers. Her presentation was on the topic of psychological safety, and she did an AMAZING job! All other presenters were seasoned HR professionals from around the country. Carly earned this opportunity after winning our in-class DisruptHR-inspired competition last spring, hosted by Dr. Sasha Pustovit and judged by the main DisruptHR organizers. Her presentation was thoughtful, impactful, and inspiring. A huge thank you to the DisruptHR Baltimore organizers for hosting such an amazing event and for providing a platform where bold ideas and rising talent like Carly can shine.
