About us
TWAIN is an Horizon Europe project running from November 2023 to October 2027, with the support of 12 partners from Denmark, Spain, Netherlands, France, Germany, Belgium, Poland and Ireland. The project is dedicated to ensuring the reliable and cost-effective design and operation of wind power plants, with a specific emphasis on system stability, security, and environmental considerations. This involves the pivotal role of coordinated solutions for wind farm control and asset management. Funded by the European Union. 🎁 Holiday season is upon us bringing good news as gifts for the #WindThursday! 🌀 In news from our partner DTU Wind and Energy Systems, the astronaut and professor from DTU - Technical University of Denmark, Andreas Mogensen, travelled to space with a wind turbine miniature, a symbol of engineering mastery. #TWAINproject #windenergy #windpower #windfarm
Last week, astronaut Andreas Mogensen, an affiliated professor at DTU Space, returned a miniature wind turbine from DTU Wind that had travelled with him into space. Professor Henrik Bredmose and Head of Department Morten Jeppesen participated in the reception and brought the turbine back to Campus Risø. In Bredmose's opinion, the miniature wind turbine was the ideal artefact for Mogensen to bring with him to the ISS because "Modern wind turbines represent the cutting edge of a broad range of engineering disciplines - a fitting symbol for DTU - Technical University of Denmark." Despite the remarkable journey far away from gravity and winds, Henrik Bredmose's research is focused on wind turbines floating at sea. "Today, wind turbines have become a highly efficient source of energy," Bredmose says. "Now, the next chapter is to make them even more sustainable and cost-effective. Here at DTU and in Denmark, we are in an excellent position to lead this research."

📣 The TWAIN project is holding on November 27 and 28, 2024, a General Assembly with all partners at the Technical University of Munich. 🌀 On the first day of the meeting, the partners from SoftServe presented updates on the TWAIN Framework design, and the host institution, Technical University of Munich, together with the respective partners collaborating on the model developments for the wind farm response, also presented progresses on their work. 🌬️ The day was finalised with an acoustics session: a workshop with Pietro Bortolotti from National Renewable Energy Laboratory, a presentation on modelling of wind turbine noise emissions by Andreas Fischer from DTU - Technical University of Denmark, and a presentation on acoustics measurement campaign by the ENGIE GREEN partners. #TWAINproject #windfarm #windenergy #windfarmcontrol ____ DTU - Technical University of Denmark | Centro Nacional de Energías Renovables (CENER) - National Renewable Energy Centre | Delft University of Technology | Technical University of Munich | F6S Innovation | ENGIE GREEN | Laborelec | EDF | Ramboll | SoftServe | Vattenfall
