The Center for Women’s Health and Wellness (CWHW) is housed in the School of Health and Human Sciences with the mission to advance the health and wellness of all women and girls through collaborative research, educational programs, and community engagement. CWHW places strong emphasis on the promotion of positive health, quality of life and sense of well being for girls and women of all ages, from all backgrounds and communities. CWHW seeks to incubate and coordinate programs, research and education that support its mission.

  • We’re excited to announce that the Center for Women’s Health and Wellness is partnering with Greensboro Parks and Recreation to host a Day of Play in celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day on February 1st! 🎉 Join us right here on UNCG’s campus for this special event.     ANNOUNCEMENT: Our Annual Spring Research Forum will be on February, 28th! Stay tuned for the time, location, and registration. This will be an in-person event. W 😍 e have identified an amazing keynote speaker, Dr. Lisa Bowleg, who directs the Intersectionality Training Institute. She will give a keynote presentation about her own research: “Intersectionality: An Indispensable Critical Framework for Qualitative Equity Research”. Dr. Bowleg will also lead a 2-hour workshop titled “The 5 Most Important Things Health Equity Researchers Need to Know About Doing Qualitative Intersectionality Research”.  We also plan to showcase research from across the university with an emphasis on girl’s and women’s health and wellness. We encourage faculty, staff, and students who are interested in presenting their work to submit an abstract. A goal of the research forum this year is to highlight qualitative research; however, we welcome both qualitative and quantitative research presentations. Throwback Thursday to our 1st Active Girls Healthy Girls Spring Break Camp✨🌸🤍 We are feeling a bit nostalgic as we start preparing for OUR SECOND AGHG SPRING BREAK CAMP!🫶🏽 Last year’s camp was filled with laughter, teamwork, and new experiences, empowering young girls to discover the joy of movement and healthy living!🥦🧠🏃🏽♀️➡️ We can’t wait to bring the same energy (and even more!) this year.   • Join the Center for Women’s Health and Wellness (CWHW) on Friday, September 20th from 11 am to 1pm for a lecture presented by Dr. Clare R. Evans from the University of Oregon. Dr. Evans is an associate professor in the department of sociology and will present on, “Multilevel Models of Intersectional Inequities: Introducing MAIHDA and Reimagining Multilevel Methods for Health Inequities Research and Beyond.” Dr. Evans will introduce multilevel analysis of individual heterogeneity and discriminatory accuracy (MAIHDA), a quantitative method that uses an intersectional perspective to analyze health inequities. This method was established in 2015 and has grown to become one of the most utilized and valued methods in health disparities research.  What: 2024 Lecture Series featuring Dr. Clare R.
